Page 1 Symbolism in Robert Frost This poetry analysis essay is about symbolism in Robert Frost's poetry. The essay is titled "Symbolism in Robert Frost" and the poems under discussion are "The Road Not Taken" and "Birches". Fist I will start with the poem titled "The Road Not Taken" and provide three short quotes from this poem and one quote from "Birches". I will also provide three possible interpretations of their meaning. The following is a quote from the poem titled "The Road Not Taken": "Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both and be one traveler". The first possible interpretation of that quote is that there a choices in life that we as individuals will ultimately have to make.

Sometimes these choices are made and the consequences are not what was expected. These choices however insignificant at the time, can result into significant circumstances. The choices we make in life affect us in many ways. The next possible interpretation of that quote is making choices in life is what human beings do throughout life.

There are no foolproof systems in place to indicate which choice will benefit individuals the most. A third interpretation of the quote is the choices in life are many and there will be situations where you can not change your decision easily once it has been made and you " re forced to see through with what you have decided. There are times when we make choices and look back on the choices we have made in retrospect thinking what would have happened if I had choose differently? Now that I have provided three possible interpretations of a quote from the poem titled "The Road Not Taken", I would now like to take a second quote from that same poem and provide three possible interpretations of its meaning.

The following is a second quote from the poem titled "The Road Not Taken": "Oh I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever comeback". The first possible interpretation of that quote is that we as individuals come to terms with and accept the choices we make in life whether good or bad. The next possible interpretation of that quote is when dealing with choices made in life that may not have been wise before, we can make the best of the situation and stay the course. A third possible interpretation of the quote is when a decision in life is made to accept the choices a person makes, he or she may feel that the outcome could have been different if only the other choice had been made. However, time is the key factor in whether either choice was the wrong or right one.

Now that I have provided three possible interpretations of a quote from the poem titled "The Road Not Taken", I would now like to take a third quote from that same poem and provide three possible interpretations of its meaning. The following is the third quote from the poem titled "The Road Not Taken": "Two roads diverged in a wood, And I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference". The first possible interpretation of that quote is symbolism of what this life has in store for everyone. There will be times that you will be forced to make choices that were not the status quo. The next possible interpretation of that quote is some choices require sacrifice of things we hold dear to our hearts, but nothing in life worth having is easy.

A third possible interpretation of the quote is choosing the path of most resistance will lead to promising outcomes due to not taking the easy way out. By making and achieving goals and not being a spectator in life can we see our fruits of labor. Now that I have provided three possible interpretations of a quote from the poem titled "The Road Not Taken", I would now like to take a quote from the poem titled "Birches" and provide three possible interpretations of its meaning. The following is a quote from the poem titled "Birches": "One could do worse than be a swinger of birches". The first possible interpretation of that quote is symbolism of how one should enjoy being young while they are young. Go out and experience life to the fullest.

The next possible interpretation of that quote is to experience life without innocence and not not know what it feels like to be carefree and youthful. A third possible interpretation of the quote is being afraid of failure and only by trying will an individual truly know what they are capable of doing. One should not let life's experiences pass them by. In conclusion of my essay title "Symbolism in Robert Frost", I have provided four of Robert Frost's symbols from quotes with possible interpretations for each symbol from poems "The Road Not Taken" and "Birches.".
