Galileo Galilei was a revolutionary in the science field, being remembered as one of the most accomplished men in history. His work has become part of our everyday life, scientists rely upon his work, astronomers and artists as well. Galileo was a man who lived to better define the world and make life simpler for her inhabitants. Galileo was born in Pisa, Italy, in February 15, 1564. His father, Vincenzo Galilei was a musician who is also well known to historians to his contribution to the musical practice for his theories on harmonization and 'modern music' as he called it in the 16th century.
He, too, was a published author of several books. Because of his father, Galileo was considered nobility, but not enough so that they were wealthy. Galileo's mother, Giulia degli Amman nati was from the town of Piscina. After marrying Vincenzo, gave birth to seven children, Galileo being the oldest. During his childhood the Galilei family moved to Florence, Italy, where Vincenzo was born. Galileo stayed in Pisa for two years with a relative of his mother's where he was tutored.
When Galileo was ten he move to Florence and began to study at the Camaldolese Monastery. This was a popular way to get an education in the 16th century for young boys, unfortunately it meant that Galileo was to leave his family again, twice before he was a teenager.
