Gay Marriage The Biological Parent example essay topic
However, the issue is what the creation of such a family will bring to society and how the majority of the society would accept such families. Many people may argue that family is established not for the society, but for the people who create it. I agree on that, but we should not forget that family is the rock around which our civilization is built. I think that the main purpose for same-sex marriages is to make an emphasis on homosexual rights. Homosexuals, who overcome most of the homophobia that they grew up with, need to solve the problem of social acceptance of their desire to create legitimate union.
Most people believe that marriage can only be between the men and the women. To them any other same sex combinations are despicable. Understanding what their views are I believe that love and trust makes the strongest bond between two individuals. Males and females get married because they love and trust each other. Same sex individuals should be able to do the same; after all, in both cases they are connected with the same bond.
We live in a diverse country where tolerating homosexuality should not be an issue. People who believe that marriage can only be between a male and a female also have faith in baring their own children. Some gay couples may want to raise a child together even though it is impossible for both people to be biological parents. Some believe that unlike a straight couple, one of them can be a real parent, but the other will never have the same connection. It is hard to understand that some people think that two women cannot give as much love as a married couple, especially if one of them is a biological mother. Society believes that all children need the influence of a mother and father.
This way the child has a loving and unquestionably normal home. It is possible to encounter arguments explaining that in the straight marriages both parents are equal, so they both can decide about the childs future. Some say that in a gay marriage the biological parent might forbid any parenting rights from the other one, because he or she is not connected to the child biologically. Once again, this might happen in traditional marriages too. That is an issue of trust between the parents. I personally do not think that both parents need to be connected to the child by blood.
As long as they show him that they love him, the child should grow up just fine. It should not matter if the parents are both males or females as long as they teach their child about morals, if they tell him what is right and what is wrong he should grow up to be a ordinary individual. Someone might argue that a child needs a male and a female role model, but I think that is not necessarily true. Single parents raise children and they turn out perfectly normal. Their children do not have both male and female parents so I do not see a lot of difference in having two same gender parents. Homosexuals have feelings and their sexual orientation of attraction to the same sex is inborn.
So why will not accept this and give them all the respects and rights they undoubtedly deserve for the simple reason of being human beings. I support the legislation allowing same-sex marriages but I think that we should not hurry, while making such a radical change. I am not homosexual, but if I were one, I would consider living not in a free country for the reason of not being allowed by other people to marry the person I truly love. This would make me feel disrespected. Therefore, if we all live in a free country and respect all the citizens of this country then we should accept the legislation permitting same-sex marriages in order not to discriminate other members of our society. There are several reasons for not allowing or allowing homosexuals to marry, but I suggest that psychologists and sociologists should study this question in depth in order to determine whether such a kind of marriage will bring more positive or negative effects.
Anyway, homosexuals are normal people just like the heterosexuals and the only difference is biologically inborn attraction towards the people of the same sex, for which they should not be persecuted and criminalized. They have no control over this destiny. Counseling, therapy or the environment would not change this, since we cannot convert them into heterosexuals..
