Discrimination There are many types of Discrimination, I am only going to highlight just a few. Discrimination is defined as unforgettable or unfair treatment of a person or class of persons in comparison to other who are not members of the protected class because of race, sex, color, religion, national origin, age, physical / mental handicap, sexual harassment, sexual orientation or reprisal for opposition to discriminatory to practices or participation in the EEO process. Discrimination is apart of everyday life, it happens everywhere in all kinds of ways. The main topics that I am going to touch on are Disability, gender, and employment discrimination.

These all relate to work places everywhere. The first topic I am going to talk about is employment discrimination. There is a growing body of laws preventing or occasionally justifying employment discrimination based on sexual orientation. Discriminatory practices include bias in hiring, promotion, job assignment, and various types of harassment. The Fifth Amendment has an explicit requirement that the federal government not deprive individuals of "life, liberty, or property", without due process of the law. Due process protection requires that employees have a fair procedural process before they are terminated if the termination is related to a "liberty" or property interest.

The Equal Pay Act amended the Fair Labor Standards Act in 1963. It prohibits paying wages based on sex by employers and unions. It provides that where workers perform equal work in jobs requiring "equal skill, effort, and responsibility and performed under similar working conditions", they should be provided equal pay. Gender discrimination is another problem, such as the work place and school. Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972 prohibits sex discrimination in any education program receiving federal funds. In 1996, the Clinton administration told schools that meeting this so-called "proportionality test" is the only way to avoid getting sued for sex discrimination.
