ThroughGod's grace, promises, and chastisement, Christians can be assured that once they have received Jesus as their Savior, they are eternally saved. Throughout time God has shown His grace to many people. When King David committed adultery with Bathsheba, God extended His grace and still allowed David to conquer his enemies. When the filthy, sinful prostitute was brought before Jesus' feet by Pharisees, God again gave grace by looking past her sins and forgiving the prostitute. Finally, God's grace worked through a father who allowed his son to return home after the son had disowned and ruined his family's name. The God who gave grace to King David, the prostitute, and the rebellious son is the same God Christians serve today.

Many Christians think that if they sin without asking forgiveness they will face eternal damnation. Because of His grace, God has allowed Jesus to be in His presence interceding for Christians so thatChristians' un confessed sins do not cause them to lose their salvation. Jesus plainly says he promises Christians eternal life. John 5: 24 states, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that hearethmy words, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life".

Scripture clearly states God " promises that can mean nothing else then that all who have been saved are saved forall eternity and can never be lost. One of the strongest proofs of being a child of God " sis God's chastisement. Some people have interpreted eternal security to be a license to live as they please; however, eternalsecurity is not a license to sin. Eternal security does not teach that God condones or look slightly upon the Christian's sin. God deals with the Christian's sin in a verydefenite and serious manner. Every person who is a child of God will be disciplined by God when he or she disobeys Him.

The Bible says that God chastises His children when they are disobedient. Hebrews 12: 5-8 says, "And have you quite forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you, His child He said, 'My son, don't be angry when the Lord punishes you. Don't be discouraged when he has to show you where you are wrong. For when he punishes you, it proves that he loves you.

When he whips you it proves you are really his child. ' Let god train you, for he is doing what any loving father does for his children. Whoever heard of a son who was never corrected If God doesn't punish you when you need it, as other fathers punish their sons, then it means that you aren't reallyGod's son at all-that you don't really belong in His family". The fact that God does chastise Christians is proof that the yare His children; He is using His means for helping Christians correct their wrongs, rather than allowing Christians to continue to disobey Him.

Just as a father whips his children because he loves them, so God disciplines those who belong to Him; furthermore, as Hebrews says, "Whoever heard of a son who was never corrected " Eternal life is God's reward to Christians; it should be a blessing of peace and joy from God. Along with eternal life comes eternal security. Believing in eternalsecurity is based on God's Word. Before the one who has been saved can be lost again, the Bible must become void. God's grace allows Christians to fail and then be forgiven without being separated from God.

God has promised eternal life to all who believe in Him. if satan could cause the Christian to believe that he or she is not eternally saved, the Christian faith would be destroyed by confusion and doubt. Thankfully, God " grace, promises, and chastisement assure Christians that once they are saved, they can never be lost.
