By: ale Fairness and Equality in Ecuador Ecuador is small country in south America. is situated over Per'u and beneath Venezuela and Colombia. It's population is 12.500. 000. there are different ethnic groups in Ecuador, there is mestizo (mixed Amerindian and Spanish) 55%, Amerindian 25%, Spanish 10%, black 10% (-1-). The predominant religion is Roman Catholicism.

90% of the population knows how to read and write. Ecuador is also very rich in tradition and it has been blessed with tons of natural resources and a climate that allows us to grow and produce all year long almost anything. The official language is Spanish but in Somme places they also speak a mixture of Amerindian dialects especially Quechua (most likely spoken by Indians). In Ecuador like in most south American countries politics are very corrupted. Ecuador is not very fair to every one in it's community because it doesn't provide equal opportunity for every one, Ecuador's modern society unfair that you can almost say that you are either born with or with out opportunity. One of the most significant factors that affect equal treatment is last names.

Last names can be good or bad it just depends WHAT your name is and what does it represent to society. Last names have a history attached. To have a good name means tons of thing, means you come from a family known to every one because it's been around in Ecuador at the least for the last 200 years and always have been known to be honest, all men and women were gentlemen or proper ladies, hard working, table manners, politeness, noble, and most of all it says that you can be trusted. While that person can be the biggest thief in Ecuador's history. A lot of the politicians use their last names to project an image of truth and honesty to the people just so they can get a vote. A lot of people rely on names for a lot of things, the difference between having a good name or a bad one can affect you from the most insignificant way to a way that could mean set back in some of your lives goals.

On one hand a insignificant example is when you are a teenager and you want to go out with some one whose last name is unknown or worse a bad name there is no possible way you are going to be bale to go out with that person if you are under 15. Another example when you are really young. You can't go to some one's party if that person has a bad name or if its last name is unknown, your parents would give two res on for it. The one res on I agree with is this one that actually makes sense that (parent would say) "we don't know that family and we don't know what rules or customs do they have" it's understandable I wouldn't trust my kids to a stranger so why trust them to an stranger family we don't know about or even herd of them. On the other hand a much more difficult situation could pop up in your carrier, names in Ecuador can influence a lot when it come to landing jobs. For instance.

Will just assume that Cate is one of most respected names in Ecuador and that person has applied to exactly the same job that a person whose name is Lopez that we assume is not known by society. First of all the one with the good name is going to get the interview first and treated better, as the employer goes over their resumes he notices names and tries to identify if he knows someone with that name, he has identified Cate because is known in Ecuador that the cate family comes from a old honest hard working family where as the name Lopez is just one more in the list. They both graduated from Princeton University, they both got their MBA's in U PENN's Wharton Business School and they have had a work experience in different but equally important banks in the United States. Either for pressure from higher managers, friends family or society it self Cate is going to get the job because a good name in Ecuador is name you can trust. A Bad last name is some thing that you could be born with two. A bad last name may have just the same weigh in society as a good with the difference that a bad name only produces negative effects on their daily lives.

Bad last names as well also carry a history attached to them. They are supposedly known for the exact opposite of a good name, they are very corrupt, dishonest, gritty, cheaters, no politeness, no manners, no table manners, and because of this it becomes a icon that automatically means bad. An example for being born with a bad name are the Persian emigrants that came in colonies around the 1800's Persian are well known all over the world for having a gut fell and skills for commerce. Because there where so many business men from Persian backgrounds or family not all of them could have been honest so there were a few crocks and cheaters in commerce from Persian background and over the years the Persians were characterized as crocks and thieves by all of society in Ecuador.

Another res on of why Persian descendant last names are not good names is because there have been a lot of corrupt Persian politicians along Ecuador's government history so besides their history in bee ign in the past crock they come and reinforce it with the bad egoistic governments we have obtained from Persian politicians. In Ecuador un fairness doesn't just come from good or bad last names but also from race and regionalism. For a lot of people RACE is another big factor when it comes to fairness. Ecuador is mostly which are a mixture of amerindians and Spanish that constitute 50 percent of population, the Amerindians continued 25 percent and black and Spanish 10 and 10 percent respectively. the ones who are affected this mistreatment are he blake and the amerind indians continuing the 35 percent of population. In Ecuador there are two big cities one is Guayaquil that from where I come from and the other is the capital Quito in both of the cities there is a lot of racial segregation for balks and amerindians. WHY? because they do no live in cities blake and amerindians live often in small towns for example most blake live by the coast in cities like Esmeralda's and Man abi working as farm employed or working in low pay jobs because they are nit well educated and because their are known not to be well educated.

The same thing happens with amerindians they mostly live in the highlands and also work underpaid because they are not well educated, thus wen they go to the big cities for jobs even if they have been well educated often they will reject blake or amerindians because they will often think they are not capable of doing a job or smart enough to do the job right. Regionalism is another kind of unfairness that happens a lot in Ecuador. The country is divided into provinces esch with a capital city and all over the country there are taxes for purchasing and millions of things that produces a lot of money. All of the money goes to the capital in order to be re-emanated to provinces for them to manage. But instead corruption is so high and shameless that the money do sent even come out representatives from the provinces have to go to capital being for the money they own them in order for poor towns and cities to survive in the corrupting economy we live every day.

Economic and social status are other big factors in fair treatment in Ecuador. By having a high economic and social status what is implied? Power, power is implied. People with money or high positions in society are treated differently than the people who don't have money or a sat and in society. people with out any kind of influences are more likely to go to jail and have longer sentences where as people with influences get out trouble by paying some cash or pulling some strings. People should be cute by the same knife and a cording to the law. There is just one law and one for all, not one for the rich and another for the poor, or one for whites and another for blake.

In conclusion i would like to in courage upon yung people who in their hand is the future of our societies health that no matter the color of the skin, the city nor region that we live in, how much money our how well known we are, that we should all learn our differences, accept them, treat and be treated the same way everybody is in order to live in more pla sent place were people no matter their conditions have the same opportunity to succeed in their lives as everybody else.
