Gotham City example essay topic
Curley believed that every person is entitled to social rights. Even if he was charged with fraud himself and jailed, the Bostinanian believed in individuality. He be lived that any misuse of public rights should be rectified by law. In the case of Gotham City, the rights of the immigrants were being misuse; therefore they should be given their due rights. Similarly, George Washington Plunkitt (1842-1924) would also have the opinion that people whether poor or rich should be given opportunities to rectify their situation.
He believed in dealing with any situation in an honest manner, not through dishonest black mailing etc. He believed every man is an opportunist and he should use such opportunities to better his cause. Whether these opportunities comes in the form of rectification of a city living standards or investing in a project. With Gotham City's background an opportunist should take up the situation in his own hand to improve the condition of the city. With an infrastructure like Gotham, Plunkitt would have considered the city a good investment.
To improve the condition of the city, they would have to improve the living condition of the immigrants further. This way they would build a stronger city and labor force for the meager industrial structure further. On the other hand Woodrow Wilson with his Princeton background would have a different view for reorganization of Gotham City. Wilson gained a Ph. D. and professor hood when he became president of Princeton in 1902.
His main concern was to reorganize the curriculum and introduction of preceptorial system of instruction to provide individualized education to the masses. His main concern was to improve the quality of life through the basic foundation. If he were faced with the problems of Gotham City, he would have suggested the improved condition of education for the immigrants. This would eliminate the living standards of these people thereby improving their quality of life. Once this is done the issue of saloons and bars would automatically be eliminated. Like Wilson, Theodore Roosevelt could be considered a true hero for humanitarian.
It took courage and compassion for humanity to drive the many doctrines that Roosevelt believed the people should have. For him, people deserved good and honest politics and that includes the politics for better standards of living. Roosevelt truly believed he could make a change to limit to offend his opponents. In the case of Gotham City, he would have taken steps similar to Wilson but with the difference that he would have campaigned solely for the immigrants because according to him they were most unfortunate.
His heroic qualities would enforce him to take drastic steps against the mayor and the industrialists to provide for these individuals because to him they deserve more then a few saloon and bars. Hence, Roosevelt would have campaigned, used his political standing to fight against the elite for the poor. In the above both pairs of politicians demonstrate a great compassion for the group of destitute people in Gotham city. What makes their opinions countable would be due to the fact that they believed in humanitarian cause. Although Curley and Plunkitt would not have conventional model for modification of the city, they nevertheless would have worked in the same manner as Wilson and Roosevelt. What is most important in this issue is the ability of election candidates, leaders to use their powers, as they believe fit to turn around the living conditions of the people.
Not many individuals would endeavor to do so because most would be too busy to fight for their own personal cause but these individuals could be said / guaranteed to follow their plans in the above manners because they have demonstrated such acts during their tenure in the history of the United States of America. QUESTION NO. 2 By the end of the 19th century, America after the war with Spain and Cuba apprehended a front that could be said to be anti imperialist. For this reason it had boycott any kind of pedigree that was vaguely regulated to colonialism or imperialism. By the time World War I came the country was equipped to combat any kind of social upheaval that was threatened by the global political climates of the imperialist countries like Japan, England and Russia.
At the home front the nation had taken upon themselves to fight this very concept. People were brought together to fight at the political, educational and literary front to eradicate the concept of colonialism and its hold it has on American citizens. Many coalition movements in the form of politicians, reformers, educators, writers, and business and labor leaders moved under a platform that declared that imperialism was 'the paramount issue' of the day. These movements proved fruitful because people were keen to get rid of colonial trace. In their endeavors they produced a series of new culture and the foundation of American culture. For example leaders such as Jane Addams, the founder of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom; Moor field Storey, the steel magnate, Andrew Carnegie; and Samuel Gompers of the American Federation of Labor all became integral part of the national front.
Concepts like individuality, national coalition and minority groups became the epitome for national movement. These facets were carried out through rallies and political campaigns, which later on became the base for constitution development. Hence, it could be said that the participation of imperialism eradication, American had found a niche for its own culture. On the other hand, the authority was acting in the opposite direction. While the nation were fighting against imperialism, the government was busy erecting its own base for imperialist rules in areas like the Philippines and Mexico where these colonies were grateful the help of the United States but were not aware of their guise to make their base in their countries. Gradually when the war ended, the turn of the event opened these nations' eyes to the imperialistic attitude of the American government to subsequently base themselves in their countries with understood permission.
Thus began a series of American hegemony and imperialism around the world. These steps only enhanced the hatred of the people against their government, which deteriorated the relation of the nation and the authority. Hence, it could be said the national revolution in America took place during this period, which is why it is also considered to be a progressive period because the American people realized they could not rely on their authority to make their decisions for them. The nation realized they had individual rights, which they could utilized to improve their rights in a legal and constitutional manner.
