Graduation Through Out Life People example essay topic
Graduation is the end of high school, and the beginning to life. I can almost remember that day like it was yesterday, I awoke like on any other school day. It was a gorgeous May morning, the rays of sun flittered through my mini blinds blinding me as if I hadn't seen light in days. I sluggishly dragged my limp body out of my warm bed, retiring to the bathroom to perform my normal morning rituals shower, shave, brush my teeth, get dressed, do my hair, and all the other regulars. As I looked at myself while combing my hair, it hit me like a speeding express train, I was about to graduate. I couldn't help but smile, but at the same time I felt like a part of me was drifting away.
A tear came to my eye as I realized what was about to happen to me. After I was all dressed and ready for the big day, I made my way upstairs to eat breakfast. The smell of toast, sausage, eggs, and hash browns filled the air with an inviting aroma. Just as I was setting down to begin eating, my mom turned to me and asked how my morning was going so far.
My reply was", It feels like any other morning". As I ate my breakfast, I realized that it was the best tasting breakfast I had had in my entire life. Once I was finished, I gathered up my cap and gown and my car keys and headed out the door. All the graduates had to meet in the high school library an hour before the ceremonies started, and I promised one of my best friends Tony that we would go together. I knocked on his back door and let myself in like I always do. All of his family members were running throughout the house trying to get ready.
I asked his mom where Tony was and she proceeded to tell me that he was in the bathroom getting ready. I tapped on the door and walked in. He was standing in front of the mirror with his cap and gown on. He look me straight in the eyes and said", Can you believe that we are about to graduate?" I replied", No, it really hasn't set in yet". Tony finished getting ready, and then we left for the high school. The parking lot was filled with all the other seniors' cars.
Tony and I walked into the library ten minutes late like usual, and the principal had already started giving instructions. I found my place in line and then was all ears. I couldn't help but look around at all the others. Smiles were plastered on their faces as if they had heard a hilarious joke.
Once the principal concluded his speech, the whole senior class paraded down the hallway to the commons in two uniform lines stopping just outside the gymnasium doors. We could hear the band warming up and playing songs. All the people that were standing around me were bubbling with emotions. Some were exhilarated, some had already broken down in tears, and me, I had no clue how I felt. Just as everyone calmed down, the band started playing the graduation song. Gasps filled the commons as smiles disappeared.
All the people in line before me filed into the gym with ease. When my turn came, my feet seemed glued to the floor. I couldn't move for the life of me, but my partner began to walk so I had to take a deep breath and the first step, the first step into my adulthood. The gym was filled with people. I scanned the crowd looking for my family. As I was approached the stage, I still hadn't found my family yet, till I looked to the right of me.
Everyone was there; Dad, sister, stepbrother, girlfriend, grandmas, grandpa, aunts, uncles, and cousins, but the person that I locked eyes with was mom. She looked beautiful. I could see she was crying so I winked at her, which brought a smile to her face. I found my place on the stage and sat down. The butterflies had filled my stomach to the point were I felt like I was going to vomit. The three valedictorians gave their speeches, which seemed to be only mere seconds long.
Then it was time for the Seniors' Tribute. All the seniors gathered their flowers at the edge of the stage. The first flower was given to my girlfriend, the second to my sister, and the third to my mom. As I handed her the fragrant flower, I began to cry.
She pulled me in close to her and I rested my head on her shoulder. I cried like a child that had their candy stolen from them. She whispered in my ear", Everything's going to be okay". Just with those words she was able to stop me from crying. I was overwhelmed with the feeling of serenity. I whispered to her", I love you", which she repeated back to me.
I turned around and went back to my seat on the stage. The principal entered from the left of the stage and took his place behind the podium. He then spoke the words that still ring through my head", I am proud to present to you the class of 2001". This was the beginning of my adulthood, with my whole future ahead of me..
