Job Description: The job description that appeared on the web page basically described the general tasks, duties and responsibilities for the job specified. Since the job that is offered is titled as an Account Manager (Sales & Marketing) the organization mentioned the first task, or duty as "Communication to Client". To the organization the task resembled that the candidate should perfectly and correctly communicate "exact picture or idea of the service that the client is about to receive". Another task was to "Attain the customer's interest".

That is believed to be very important to the organization as it is a key factor marketing and sales. The third responsibility was described as "Account Tracking". This is another important factor to the organization as it will make the clients feel that they are being treated professionally. "Gaining customer's confidence" which is another sales technique that is used widely, is done by consistent checkup on the customer from time to time. The last responsibility that was mentioned was to "Assure Client's Satisfaction".

This technique will increase the demand for the organization's services as well as create new demand from other organizations interested in that service. Job Specification: The job specification appeared more obvious in the second part of the job opening page, "Job Requirements". The paged talked about the knowledge, skills, and abilities that the candidate should have in order to carry out the tasks, duties, and responsibilities of the job. First, the organization clearly demanded that the candidate should have enough knowledge about the product / service they are offering. This would be matched up with the "Communication to Client" task as it is important to deliver exact picture of the product / service delivered thus avoiding misunderstandings. Another requirement is to have "high level of communication skills".

This would also be paired up with the "Communication to Client" task. The organization was specific about this matter as they have explained that they need a candidate who is able to carry out presentations, meeting (either one-on-one or regular business meeting) with the clients. Developing a good client / service provider relationship was mentioned as a required skill to be able to gain the client's confidence and assure their satisfaction duties. The only ability that was required by the organization, was the ability of the candidate to be creative, this appears to me to be important for "Attaining Client's Interest" task. A person needs to be creative in order to figure out different way of catching the interest of different clients. The last knowledge that was mentioned in the page was the "basic database management skills to maintain clientell profiles and accounts".

We can pair that up with the responsibility of "Account Tracking" as it does require knowledge of database management. Clientell is believed to be software that the organization uses to sustain that responsibility. Self Assessment: From the KS As that are mentioned above, I believe I have most of them. I have developed a high level of communication skill here at Purdue, not to mention my ability to speak a second language which is a benefit for the communication task.

As a result of taking a lot of sales and marketing classes, I can say that I can keep a great Client / service provider relationship. I have also taken an advertising course which requires a great deal of creativity, therefore I also believe that my ability to be creative is present. As I have read about the organization, and from my experience in Purdue and especially Krannert gave my great deal of knowledge about e-commerce, consulting and business web design. The only thing that I can say I lack is the basic skills of database management and the use of the Clientell software. Skill Acquisition: I believe that the knowledge of database management and the use of Clientell require a significant amount of work and effort. Therefore that knowledge can be attained by continuous training.

The training can be either provided by the organization itself, or by another organization that specializes in training employees. Plan to describe yourself to a prospective employer: After viewing your webpage, I got really interesting in gaining in you sales and marketing department. As mentioned in your Job Opening page, an account manager is expected to perform several tasks, duties and sustain certain responsibilities. Tasks and duties such as proper communication to the client and delivering the exact picture of the service they are about to enjoy, attaining client's interest, gaining confidence, assuring satisfaction of the client, and finally to track the client's account really inspired me to apply to your organization. As a Purdue graduate, I have gained a tremendous amount of knowledge, skills and abilities, which would allow me to perfect the tasks, duties and responsibilities mentioned above. Through my career at Purdue, I have learned a great deal about e-commerce, e-business, web development, consulting, marketing, sales, communication, and advertising.

My knowledge about e-commerce, e-business, web development, and consulting would give me the advantage of illustrating the exact service that you are providing to your clients. Creativity is a key factor in gaining a client's attention; therefore my ability to grasp your client's attention and get them more interested in your services perfectly fits your need. On the other hand, gaining your client's confidence and assuring their satisfaction is essential to keep the business growing by generating demand. Through my marketing and selling knowledge, I have built up the skill to interact with customers, make them feel secure about their decisions, and keep them pleased by making consistent check up calls, and visits. Although database management is one thing that I did not really attain knowledge of at Purdue, I got really interested in it especially after viewing your web page. I have some knowledge of the functionality of database management, but not really on a professional level.

I'm willing to undergo any training program you are offering or recommending in order for me to attain that knowledge as it is very significant and extremely essential for account tracking and client follow ups.
