Teaching today is a big job. The children of today want to learn but there is so much involved with politics within the state and federal government that it takes time away from teaching. Studies show that grade levels are down, and yet more projects are required for teaching. The class room size is larger and we have less time with students. The pay is not that great for any kind of incentive for children to learn. Some of are teachers are so burned out they should be retired already.
The retirement plan is not tart great for us and we sure put in long hours. how can we change all this, I am not sure, maybe we can take a long hard look at what is needed for change. Schools are divided into districts, the higher the tax level the better the education a child will get. Some persons move into better school district for there children, they know that the pay is higher for teachers in good paying districts. I am not sure this make a great teacher. Also did you notice that most teachers are female, I feel that's because of the pay. Men can just make more money in the private industry.
We need more males in school teaching today because we need male role models for the kids. How can we change this, I am not sure but I know one thing I know my students are learning. My own class has test improvements over the last ten years in a roll.
