The Big Explosion At C- Shop It was a cold day in New York City and it just started to rain as Mr. Parsons woke up. He went into the bathroom to get ready for work like he did every morning. He lived in an apartment on the second level and on the lower level lived his friend, Mr. Markwardt. They worked together in the same business.

Parsons never really liked Markwardt because he was a very dirty man who was clumsy and selfish. Parsons, though, was immaculate and very well respected for he was kind and giving. Parsons always had to drive Markwardt to work because he couldn't afford a car. Their work was located on 23rd Street right next to a McDonalds. They would never talk to each other, and if they did it was an argument over something ridiculous. Immediately upon arriving at work, Markwardt would hop out of the car without even saying thank you or have a nice day.

It was a normal day at work- Parsons was always working very hard and Markwardt was always fooling around and not doing his job. Suddenly, by mistake, Markwardt tipped over one of the chemicals and a fire occurred. Everyone panicked and ran out of the building as fast as they could. When Markwardt got to the exit he shoved Parsons out of the way as hard as he could. Parsons fell down and was engulfed in flames. The building started to rumble and he knew that it would possibly collapse on him.

Parsons was rushed to the hospital. The doctors thought that he was going to die. Miraculously, he survived and suffered a broken leg and arm and became blind. He remained in the hospital for three months to treat his burns and bruises and to teach him how to adapt to being blind. A year later, Parsons finally got the courage and went up to Markwardt and questioned, "why did you push me out of the way?" . "Look what you did to me now"!

Markwardt was speechless, he felt really horrible about what had happened. Markwardt said, "I promise I will make it up to you". Parsons was at home sitting on his bed when the door bell rang. He got up and guided himself as best as he could to the door. It was Markwardt holding a guide dog for him. Parsons was very touched that his friend did such a kind deed.

They spoke about the incident only one more time and from thereafter they became the best of friends. Parsons relied on Markwardt and Markwardt became a responsible and caring friend.
