Hate Blacks And Jews example essay topic
This is a story not of hate though, it is one of realization. The main character Derek Vineyard, is changed from his neo-nazi status into a more tolerant person, after going through the jail system and actually interacting with members of the black race. He see's through his own personal experience that blacks are people too and are no different than himself. This breaks the stereotypes that he has been fed. His predisposition to blacks is changed just as fast as it was implemented.
A stereotype is only as strong as the people who believe them. A statement towards blacks or Jews is only strong if there are people that believe it. If there is, for example, a statement that says all blacks are robots, and of course no one believes it, than it isn t a threat. However, those statements which are backed by many people become abrasive and caustic. Toxic to society.
Stereotypes are one of the biggest barriers to our human world. As shown in this movie, They never help a situation and often hinder it. We ultimately should see other races as equals to your own race although individuals may differ. No entire race should be responsible for the acts of an individual.
And this is shown in this movie as well. It works the reverse as well, all whites should not be seen as people who hate blacks and Jews, although many do. Generalizations such as these are a huge hurdle to our society. This movie showed the struggle of a family going through an extremely rough period turning to hate to deal with their stress. Both of the men in the house turn to a neo-nazi group and blame the death of their father ultimately to the entire black and Jewish people. They take out the hate and fear of their lives on these groups and in the end nothing is resolved.
Actually in the end of the film, there is more stress to deal with after the younger brother Daniel Vineyard is murdered by a black youth who we saw earlier in the movie get disrespected by Danny. Unfortunately, hate breeds hate. Danny's new found hate towards blacks led to his death. One who hates is hated. His own malice came around ten fold and killed him. This turn of events showed us the sacrifice that one en curs hating others.
Although Derek turned his life around and became more tolerant towards other races, there were still prices to pay. Even for his brother who he turned away from this thought, there was a price to pay. This event showed us that in the end, the only ones you are hurting is yourself, life is too short to be pissed off all the time Being tolerant is sometimes a hard thing when you have so much hurt and pain in your life, finding a scapegoat is easy to do. It was easy for Derek to pin his anger on blacks since his father was killed by a black man, in a drug house. Can we really blame him at all? We know it is wrong to hate although we can t help but feel sorry for this kid and his family.
They are then forced to move out of their home into a smaller one and their quality of life is diminished. It was all too easy to fall into this crevasse of hate and anxiety. The stronger person however would hate the individual and not the group, but a blind hate is a stronger hate. To hate school is much easier than to hate your English assignment and math homework. The individual is always changing, if it isn t one particular thing its another, they almost seem to be the entire group at times. This is a story not of hate however, it is of love.
The love of a brother, the love of a family and the acceptance for this convicted criminal. It is the story of facts. Although it is totally fictional the events are realistic, from the neo-nazi party to the murder scene. This is a sad story but only in one effect, the person that got killed was newly turned around. One would expect the older brother to be the one who is killed. However the impact of the story is greater in this circumstance.
The fact that hate is one of the most destructive forces that we know is evident in this film. Stereotypes are wrong and we are wrong to use them. They dot help anything and mostly create a hurdle to our society..
