Healthy Mothers Before Legal Abortions example essay topic
The reason for abortion can basically be divided into three categories. These categories are based upon the reasons for which abortions are carried out, and include congenital defects, rape, and economics. Congenital defects, is when deformities within the baby are detected during an early stage of a pregnancy. These defects, such as Down's syndrome, are detected through an amniocentesis test. The second justification for abortion is from criminal cases, such as rape. A final reason for an abortion is due to economics, the financial condition, of a family.
Economics can also include cases such as teen pregnancies. The anti-abortionists' reasons come from the belief that a human being is born after conception, and that the death of that embryo or fetus resembles the murder of an innocent human being. They believe that no one has the power to take command of another's life, mainly an infant that is dependent on others for survival during the initial stages of life. In addition, to the fact that abortions kill innocent human beings, anti-abortionists believe that they also damage the mental, as well as physical condition of the mother. Since, after an abortion a mother is more susceptible to breast cancer, and to periods of depression. In the case of congenital defects, the pro-life activists argue that such indications of a disease, do not guarantee that the child will be born into a life of suffering.
They believe that through love, and guidance anyone with any form of deformity or disease, can lead a normal life. The cases pertaining to rape also have different anti-abortionists views. Many anti-abortionists believe that the child can actually help the mother get through the turbulent times in her life, by providing each other with a loving environment. Finally, in the case of economics, the pro-life activists believe that having an abortion due to financial reasons is ridiculous. Because, it doesn't mean that the child will have a life full of isolation and depression.
The pro-life activists argue that there are also numerous welfare programs for such families. We can plan our lives, but we also know that life full of surprises, sometimes not very good surprises. Often a woman has to make the hard decision, when it is absolutely necessary, to choose to have an abortion, in secret, without medical care, in dangerous circumstances. Thousands of women have died! To be able to choose a safe, legal abortion makes many others possible. I think it is one of the greatest reasons why abortion has to be legal.
Making an abortion in the hospital under medical care protects a women's health. Many of those women have a heart disease, kidney disease, or other illnesses that can be life threatening. The legal abortion has helped avert serious medical complications that could have resulted from childbirth. How many children have been born with complications passed down from not healthy mothers before legal abortions? It cannot be expec table that mother with unwanted child will love her child, especially if she had been raped.
The child might become an everyday reminding of her infamy. I am more concerned with the quality of life than the quantity. Before giving birth to a child a woman has to think, "What can I give to my child?" Many people will answer that it is life, but what kind of life? Can she support yourself and her child? Can she give her love and attention to her baby? They are important questions what women have to answer.
If women are forced to carry unwanted pregnancies to term, the result is unwanted children. There are a lot of children in this world who don't know the love of parents. They ask why nobody loves them, or why nobody wants them. This is not a good entering into life for children, for families, or for country. Children need love, they need families who want them and care for them. At the most basic level, the abortion issue is not really about abortion.
It is about the value of women in society. Should women make their own decision about family, career, and how to live their lives? Or should government do that for them? Women today have many ways to protect themselves from unwanted pregnancies. Information, education, and contraception they can find everywhere. But if an unwanted pregnancy happened a woman should be able to make the decision safely and legally.
