High blood pressure (also known as arterial hypertension) is described as an increase in the pressure of blood in the arteries. High blood pressure works against the heart and arteries, causing arterial disease. When you have high blood pressure; your heart has to work harder for it to pump blood throughout your entire body. When the heart is required to work extra hard for an extended period of time, it is likely to expand. If the heart is expanded a little, it can still work well but a heart that is enlarged too much can cause some serious problems.

Many people feel just fine and live without knowing they have this problem. If it is not taken care of, high blood pressure can cause strokes, heart attacks, eye problems, kidney problems and even leading to death. The disease is a genetic disease. You cannot tell a person has high blood pressure just by looking at them because they look perfectly fine but on the inside they slowly being tarred apart.

There are no symptoms therefore people live without knowing. Some say changing diet and increasing exercise can treated the problem of high pressure but it is still mysterious. High blood pressure has no symptoms. The only way to find out if you have high pressure is to have your blood pressure checked. An analysis that is below 140 mm Hg over 90 mm Hg shows that you are fine, while being over can cause problems. Stress and a lack of exercise could add to your danger for high blood pressure.

Nobody is more likely to get the disease; in fact everyone has about the same risk. There is no cure for high blood pressure but it could be controlled.
