High School Drop Out Rate example essay topic
First and for most, the new law may save many teen's lives as well as others. You might wonder how I know this. Firstly recent studies have shown that 1 out of every 5 teens dies in automobile accidents either because of alcohol abuse or defying the rules of the road because they thought it was cool. Well you might ask how having a diploma will help reduce this statistic. I believe that the average person to receive a high school diploma is eighteen years of age. So if the person is eighteen rather then seventeen the person will be more mature and be knowledgeable so they won't abuse alcohol, they will drive more responsibly and they will know the rules of the road better.
Hopefully if they choose to drink they would be smart enough not to drive. Secondly, the new law may give schools a lower number of high school dropouts. This is so because once a person turns sixteen, they can drop out of school if they choose to and then when they turn seventeen they can get their license and drive legally. However, the new law states that one needs a high school diploma to get a license, thus this would encourage teens to stay in school and graduate. Not only would the teen be eligible to get a license, but having a diploma would help them for the future whether in a job or in obtaining a higher education. Thirdly, the new law may decrease the insurance rates.
The new law may decrease insurance rates because teens are not driving until they are older and have a diploma. It is a proven fact the teens ages sixteen to eighteen pay the highest insurance rates. Why do you think this is? Well, this is so because younger teens are less mature and are oblivious to the rules of the road, while high graduates are more mature and have more knowledge.
More responsible teens are likely to have less accidents, which would lower insurance costs. In closing, I hope you take my points into consideration as you work to implement your new plan. I support your new law. I remind you again that if a student waits until they have a diploma they will most likely be older and more mature, the high school drop out rate may decrease, and automotive insurance rates may decrease.
So I hope you take into consideration what I have said and hope this law will be passed soon. Sincerely,.
