Nowadays in the world, almost everyone knows there is a hotel named HILTON, which is often described as: Hilton has become and is synonymous for the word "Hotel". Conrad Hilton is the founder of Hilton hotels who purchased his first hotel in Cisco, Texas back in 1919. The first hotel to carry the Hilton name was built in Dallas in 1925. In 1943, Hilton became the first "coast-to-coast" hotel chain in the United States, and in 1949, open its first hotel outside the U.S. in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Hilton went on the New York Stock Exchange in 1946, and Conrad Hilton purchased the Waldorf Astoria in 1949. Hilton is absolutely one of the most important hotel groups in the lodging industry, which owns 499 hotels worldwide, 147,667 rooms worldwide, 98% brand awareness worldwide.

There are some reasons about for Helton expanding internationally. The biggest one is the international tourism is been increased in the world. From second graph we can know the number of hotels in each regions have a fast increase, especially in Asia the change percentage is 45.4%. From these data Hilton need international expanding to hold its place in lodging industry. Expand internationalize also have advantages for Hilton. Firstly Through the expand Helton hotels has a huge development and became the largest hotel in the world.

Secondly expanding can increase the market share percentage which can make profit increase. However the international expanding is not easy for hospitality companies. It needs a particular plan. Environmental scanning is very important part of international expanding plan. For example, Holiday Inn insisted on rigid standardization.
