Home And My Grandmother example essay topic

Webster states that a favorite is one that is preferred above all others. When it comes to favorite's there are many kinds. I can name my favorite ice cream, color, and number in two seconds. It was a matter of figuring out who my favorite person is that was the problem. It took me days to figure it out.

Literally, it took me six days to come up with an answer. Whenever I write about something, I could probably make something up and still get a passing grade on my paper. You must understand that I am the girl that stands in the card section for an hour picking out a birthday card. I take things like birthday cards and essays more serious than the average Joe does. If I am going to write about something I have to mean it and it has to be factual or heart felt. I decided that my grandmother is my favorite person.

The thought of her kept coming back to me when I was brainstorming. After six long days, I had finally nailed it. My grandmother was my favorite and when I put her name in the sentence, it just fit. There are so many reasons why she is and should be my favorite person. First of all, my grandmother was the only girl in her family. She has nine brothers; bless her heart.

My grandmother should be on Survivor. She practically raised all these boys. Her stories of her childhood are so descriptive that I feel like I was there. Sometimes I wish I could go back in time and be a fly on the wall. Just to see how she made it as the only girl in her family would be awesome. My grandmother raised four children of her own.

You think she would have had enough of raising kids. She had the perfect family with two boys and two girls. She raised them in a small town in Pennsylvania way out in the country. Yep, you guessed it. They all lived on a farm. My grandfather worked outside of the home and my grandmother was a housewife.

This meant that she not only raised the children but she tended to the farm when my grandfather was not home. This is one thing that makes her so remarkable to me. In 1983, my grandmother got the call that nobody should ever get. Her oldest son had been killed. They say that wounds make you stronger. The adjective strong does not even do my grandmother justice.

Just knowing that my grandmother made it through something this tragic tells me something about her character. She is so wonderful. I will forever be amazed with her. Although my grandmother is well taken care of, she insists on working. She works at Wal-Mart in the Craft Department. Why would this make her my favorite?

Because it is the reason that my grandmother works that amazes me. My grandmother works so that her grandchildren will have money to go to school. She goes above and beyond what grandmothers are required to do. Grandmothers are supposed to love, spoil and nurture. Grandmothers are supposed to say yes when mom says no. Grandmothers are supposed to be old people in rocking chairs.

What makes my grandmother so incredible is that she never stops to sit in a rocking chair. She would first offer it to me or to you. She has all the qualities that I aspire to have someday. She is superwoman and I am so proud to be her granddaughter. She gives me hope about life, love and prosperity.

I hope her middle name is not the only legacy she leaves with me. I can only hope to be half of the woman my grandmother is. After all, she is my favorite person.
