Homosexuality Marriages example essay topic

343 words
Issues surrounding the topic of HOMOSEXUALITY have sparked emotional debate in our nation. I have always been interested to know more homosexuality and I believe every other Singaporeans do as well. To me, being a homosexual is absolutely fine; anyway, we are living in an open minded society. My concerns are: How do other Singaporeans feel about gays? It is right to give homosexuals equal rights as heterosexuals since they are deemed to be "unnatural"? The main concern is: Should homosexuality marriages be legalized in Singapore in the near future?

I believe everyone will be interested to find out whether legalizing homosexuality marriages is the right choice in Singapore; after all, this issue has been going on for quite some time. With the increasing number of homosexuals here, it will be useful to know more about the effects of homosexual marriages on the society. This helps to increase awareness among people especially the younger generations. With some research I have made recently, I somehow see that Singapore is not ready to legalize homosexuality marriages. We know that Singapore is a modern society rooted in traditional values. Accepting homosexuals is one thing; legalizing its marriages is no simple issue.

However, since the act of homosexuality is inborn, why should the society deprived these citizens of fair and equal rights? My research process will be an interesting but challenging one. By asking around, I have realized that many people see gays as being "unnatural" and that these people choose to be "unnatural". On top of that, many people view homosexuality as a cause to "many social problems if allowed to flourish" and these include the rise of AIDS and STD. But heterosexuals play a part too, don't they? In my research process, I will gather as much information regarding this issue so as to create an appropriate essay to support my stand.

What I know is that homosexuals are humans too and they should not be ostracized.
