Hostage By A Group Of Chechen Rebels example essay topic
On October 10th, 2002, the D.C. sniper, allegedly known as John Allen Muhammad began a shooting rampage that lasted nearly three weeks. His first victim was taken on October the 10th, followed by twelve others who were shot and killed or wounded severely. The police involved were on a manhunt for nearly twenty days trying to find the sniper, and but had no evidence against him except for the letters, and bullets that were left behind at the areas of the shooting. The reasons the man was found was because of routine vehicle checks that police were doing in the area because of he shootings, and the tip from a man made after he saw the sniper. He has yet to be prosecuted in court for his crimes against the states, and is still undergoing court proceedings.
On September 11th, 2001 members from the group known as the Al Qaeda, hijacked four American passenger airplanes. One of the planes was crashed into the pentagon, killing over a hundred people and wounding almost another hundred people. Two of the other planes were crashed into the World Trade Center buildings, one into each. The buildings collapsed after some time, which resulted in the deaths of thousands of Americans in the buildings, and also the passengers on the airplane. The fourth plane was intended for the White House, but crashed in Shanks ville after the passengers on the plane stormed the cockpit and overthrew the terrorists, this caused the plane to crash, since no one could fly the plane. After the attack on America, the Americans decided to go to war against parts of Afghanistan to fight the Taliban government who had been responsible for the deaths of thousands of Americans.
The Americans bombed most of the territory that the Taliban held, and sent in ground troops to destroy the complicated networks of tunnels to eliminate any of the Taliban that might still be around in the area. The Americans suffered approximately 20 casualties, while the Taliban's forces were destroyed. In a Moscow theatre earlier this week, 750 people were taken hostage by a group of Chechen rebels. The rebels were demanding an end to the war in the breakaway republic.
The Chechen rebels had the place tied down with explosives at most exits, and themselves as well, to prevent anyone from entering or leaving the building. The Chechen rebels held the citizens hostage for 58 hour before any action was put into motion. Prior to Moscow's Special Forces storming the theatre, The special forces used the ventilation system to induce a knock out gas into the theatre. The aerosol gas compound killed 117 of the hostages, and hospitalized another 184 hostages. The Special Forces killed about 50 of the rebels after the storming of the theatre. Today, the American army is training their soldiers for street combat, which they are going to pursue in the near future.
The military is preparing them because they plan to be invading Iraq for the problems they have been causing. However, the United Nations is postponing the Americans from attacking until they have came to an agreement that America should be allowed to go into that country. However, in the meantime, the military is being trained in mock cities around the country, until they are prepared, and obligated to go into Iraq. These are the reasons that I believe there is no world peace today. I do not think that there will be world peace for many years to come, based on the actions of the people of their countries, and the governments that represent them.
However, with the United Nations in place, it will keep wars from escalating to drastically, thus going to prove that there is some safeness in the world.
