Children: Are they getting corrupted by watching too many serials? Though the television is considered an "idiot box" by many the world over it would be grossly blatant and biased to state that the television more commonly named the idiot box does not have anything enriching to offer. However I would like to make an attempt to provide a birds eye view on this issue. The long hours spent watching television definitely prove harmful to the eyes.

Dining habits tend to change which lead to further annoyance. Serials that are being telecaster often provide make-believe environments, which alter the thinking process of individuals by misleading them. Serials often depict impractical lifestyles projecting violence, which imparts a vitiating impression on young minds. Serials on the "T. V" can also be considered as "Time Virus" which devour our valuable time. In the process many creative and interesting hobbies like writing, reading, and poetry are endangered. Children who indulge themselves more in watching television find very less time and opportunity to involve in outdoor sports or other exciting activities.

Parents should play a role in helping children choose the right programs to watch. But it would be disheartening to know that parents are also often involved in making their own time futile. Efforts should be taken to make television viewing more inspiring and worthwhile by choosing programs that nurture the brain and improve the thought process. Entertainment should also be given a fair chance but one must also learn to prioritize learning and fun which would transform the "Idiot Box" to an "Inspiration Box.".
