Shawna Ms. Singh Composition II 09 January 2005 Immigration Throughout time people have been immigrating for reasons afar. In search of what or why I might ask brings upon many controversial issues. How a person chooses to immigrate is totally dependent upon what kind of opportunities are at hand. There are a very few immigrants who immigrate to places where connections are absent. Majority of immigration happens for economic reasons.

Wage Levels vary in different countries. Someone from a third world country may have a higher standard of living in a more developed country than in his or her original country. I think that sometimes the economic pressure of migrating is so high that even if legal means restricted people immigrate no matter what their legal status. Another reason people immigrate is for flight from persecution.

Many criminals commit crimes in their own countries and then flee to another country simply to keep their freedom. The criminals have a better chance of never getting caught. Which in turn means that he or she is able to start a whole new life in another country as probably some one else. People also immigrate to be close to family and friends. It is greatly because of these connections that people decide to make the move. No one wants to have to rebuild their life in a far away land not knowing any one or any thing.

Immigrants enter the other countries by whatever option is available. Some choose to go the legal way and apply for a visa to enter the country of their choice. Along with applying for visa's comes the fees and regulations of it. Those that can afford to pay do so and enter but need to abide by all the rules in which their visa bounds them to. To obtain a visa to get into the United States legally all you have to do is apply for one at the governments web site.

At the website a person is able to find all the information needed to get a visa and he or she can download all of the forms to start your citizenship process. Others enter the country illegally. This may mean that they smuggled into the country in the middle of the night, swam across far waters, stuffed in under cars or simply ran across the border. Some immigrants walk for miles and end up dehydrated then eventually dying. The Mexican government has published a book on how to survive immigrating into the United States. The book gives tips on how much water to bring, tips on following utility lines or railroad tracks if you get lost, wear clothing that will protect them from the elements.

People immigrate at any time If a person is pressured enough by economic stress or simply just not having his or own freedom I am sure they will take drastic measures to fled their country as soon as possible. Most people just go on the hope that a new and better life is well ahead. If their opportunity strikes when a van full of other immigrants are going than that is their chance to get out of their original country and flee to places like the United States. No matter what immigration will always be inevitable. People are constantly looking for bigger and better things. If opportunity is not in ones home country they will seek it else where.
