Just set back for a moment and think about a thousand acres, that's an area of land of almost mythic proportions. Just as the changes the people had to go through in this book. In this book the author takes material possessions and other tangible entities and identifies the characters through it. The awakenings begin when a father of a farm retires and divides his land between his daughters only to denounce them.

This book discusses the secrets and betrayals of the people on the farm. When I read this book all the way through it I was forced to ask myself, What causes a crisis? When this question is thought about and analyzed I believe a lot of times ignorance would be the answer. Ignorance as used in this context does not mean a lack of education. It means ignoring the wisdom of Whatsoever a man sows he reaps, or What goes around comes around. The people in this book are a perfect example.

This book takes and shows what crawls out into the light when family staleness is shattered. The characters in this book live through this and then awake to the matter of why they need family. Family is the most important people in our lives. As these girls, their dad, and their husbands live through their daily life I think they realize how important family is. They realized family is for the fun times, the hard times.

They are there when you need understanding and love. Family gives of their selves and takes what you have to offer. They are there with the words you need hear, even when you don t want to hear them. They all realize the importance of family in this book.
