In 1958 Landon Carter is teenager who spends most of his time hanging out with his friends and trying hard to ignore the responsibilities of adulthood. Then Landon gets roped into acting the lead in the Christmas play. The lead role is played by Jamie Sullivan, A goodie two-shoes. Landon knows of Jamie Sullivan but never conversed with her. Landon begins to talk to Jamie, and soon finds himself becoming good friends with Jamie. Landon's friends make fun of and taunt him for hanging around with Jamie.

Against the taunts of his buddies, Landon finds himself falling for Jamie and learning some central lessons in life. Landon finds himself volunteering with Jamie at the orphanage and church socials. Soon Landon is informed that Jamie has cancer and does not have long to live. Shocked by the horrible news, Landon devotes all of his time to helping and being together with Jamie. Jamie and Landon fall in love with each other and decide to get married. There wedding was very beautiful and they had over a hundred guests.

The two of them were married by Jamie's father who was a minister. Jamie's walk down the isle was known as "The Walk To Remember". Analysis In this novel I felt that the character's were well developed and believe able, Jamie's condition is one that many young people have and deal with in life. I also feel that the plot was believe able. The plot did resolve itself in a positive way because Jamie and Landon loved each other, spent a lot of time together and were married.

The plot was also resolved in a negative way because Jamie died of cancer, leaving Landon alone. I do feel that the author did reach his intent in the story. I enjoyed this book very much and also feel that it was very interesting.
