Jay Gatsby example essay topic

326 words
In Fitzgerald's novel The Great Gatsby he introduced Jay Gatsby, a man of extreme wealth who lives his life in pursuit of one dream: having Daisy Buchanan as his own. There are many rumors surrounding this man, and his character and actions are questions by many people. Regardless of all the gossip and speculation, Gatsby is great. Gatsby's characteristics show this support of his greatness because he took care of his father, he who have done anything for daisy and he was a self-made millionaire. Jay Gatsby truly must have been a kind and loving man to take care of his father. Most people, if they had enough money (Gatsby clearly did) would put their parents in a lonely retirement home.

Another option was, he could have bought his father a house of his own. Out of love, he let his father live with him. Daisy was loved very much by Gatsby. She left him for another man because he wasn't rich at the time. He kept on loving her through the years they were apart. He tried to do anything and everything he could for her.

In a way he ended up dying trying to get her. Not very many people become millionaire's. Even less people become a millionaire by themselves. Gatsby must have been a dedicated, hard-working man. When he did get his money he did not keep it all to him self.

He was very generous, often throwing parties. Not for himself, but for his 'friends' and acquaintances. Jay Gatsby really was great. He showed a lot of compassion for other people, even though they may not have tried show him anything in return. Gatsby also showed what a resourceful person he was.

Everybody wanted to go to his parties. He was a very generous person always willing to give.
