Was It a Joke or Not? Comedies are supposed to be funny and relaxing, at least that's what I thought. The new comedy Barbershop that was recently release features many talented actors and actress, such as Cedric the Entertainer and was written by rapper Ice Cube. The employers from the shop were discussing civil rights leaders and their importance that they contribute to the African Americans society. Cedric the Entertainer's character Eddie disagrees with all the credit that was given to Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King, Jr.

His opinion of Martin Luther King is that he was a home, and Rosa Parks didn't do anything but sit her tired ass down, which was follow by many other derogatory comments. This is what started the controversy between Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. For the reason that they thought it was not necessary for them to exploit those former civil right leaders. All these minor issues are taking away the focus from the severe problem that we have today in America, which is the decrease in the median household income of black families. Instead, Jackson and Sharpton attend to simple issues that are not helping our economy. The article said", The median household income of black families fell from $30,495 in 2000 to $29,470 in 2001".

This confirm that Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton needs to strive to improve our real problem and not on the entertainment society. The purpose of this article is to awaken the United States to focus on the major issues that we faces, and not to concentrate on the simple matters, such as a comic line in the comedy Barbershop. I think that Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton try to center things like these, to try and get attention from the problems that need to be improved. If we focus on economical problems then there is a possibility that it may increase and after those problem are taking care of then we can worry about the undersized things.
