Dove of Sword A novel of Joan of Arc This story is about the tale of Jeannette d'Arc or Jeanne la Pu celle. And her epic adventure. Also it is about her friend Gabrielle who knows her friend Joan of Arc speaks to spirits no one else can hear. In the monasteries along the way Gabrielle embarks on her own quest taking Jeannette's mother on a holy journey. Jeannettes' mother begins to teach Gabrielle the art of healing as she studies and hopes to learn more about this talent.

Rather than following her bath she encounters a young nobleman named Louis and falls in love. While Gabrielle is on her journey with her new love Jeannette (Joan) follows the voices of the angels above her. These voices tell Joan that she has been chosen to lead a French army against England and to help crown Charles VII. Although Joan is a mere peasant girl who as a child did not learn to read or write set out to raise an army even though the obstacles seem insurmountable. Gabrielle and Louis join Joan and witness her miraculous success in crowning Charles VII and flee out the English army. Charles listened to Joan because of his helpless situation because of the capture of Orleans.

Before trusting Joan Charles first tested her powers to see if she was telling the truth. He got his attention and his help as well. After Joan was injured she was captured and no ransom was offered for her. Then English saw Joan as an agent of the devil and tried her for witchcraft and heresy. She was fond guilty by tribunal of French clergy and sentenced to death.

She was burned at the stake in front of a large crowd including Gabrielle and Louis. Gabrielle endured the loss of friends and the heartbreak of war in this tragic story that will be retold many more times.
