On January 20th, 1961, on the steps of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., John F. Kennedy was inaugurated as the thirty-fifth president of the United States. Kennedy was the youngest candidate ever elected to the presidency, and also the country's first Catholic president. John. F Kennedy can be seen as one of the greatest speakers of all time. His "Inaugural Address" was the 2nd in the 100 greatest speeches of all time behind "I Had A Dream" by Martin Luther King Jr.

John F. Kennedy was a great speaker; he had the ability to give such eloquent speeches that inspired many people. His most inspirational was his Inaugural address, which was delivered on Friday, January 20th 1961. He spoke of all Americans being active citizens, "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country". I think his Inaugural Speech is one of the greatest speeches as well; the structure of the speech was very strong and it gave a strong message or purpose across to everyone that was listening. When watching the speech on TV, you can tell how great of a speaker he was by the crowd's reaction, from the looks on their faces, and to the cheers of the crowd between sentences.

His entire speech he used clear language and it was like he picked the perfect word to describe how he felt. The auditory aspects of delivery during his speech was great, he said every sentence with enthusiasm which shows how strong he was about his ideas. He did not have to use hand gestures to make his point, all he had to do was speak. I am sure after his speech everyone who voted for him were glad they did and those who did not vote for him were wondering why they didn't vote for him. His speech brought forth a new beginning: "All this will not be finished in the first one hundred days. Nor will it be finished in the first one thousand days, nor in the life of this Administration, nor even perhaps in our lifetime on this planet.

But let us begin". He was not only a great speaker; he was a man of his word. As President, he set out to redeem his campaign pledge to get America moving again. His economic programs launched the country on its longest sustained expansion since World War II. He also took vigorous action in the cause of equal rights, calling for new civil rights legislation. November 22nd, 1963 was a day a lot of people could remember where they were and what they were doing when they found out that John F. Kennedy was assassinated.

It is surely a day many people would never forget. Kennedy was the youngest person elected president and the youngest to die. John F. Kennedy's Inaugural Address was one of the best speeches ever given and to me one of the best speakers ever. If he had lived a longer life he would have a lot more famous speeches.
