Meghan McDaniel English 102, 12: 00 T TR Rough Draft September 28, 2003 Martin Luther King. Jr. is an African American minister, who was the main leader of the civil right movement. King was an amazing speaker, which helped him express the demands of African American's social class. After all are troubles and triumphs, King was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. King wrote a very well stated argument on how the laws were unjust towards African Americans in Letter from Birmingham Jail. King wrote Letter from Birmingham Jail when he was put in jail for a direct action program that would show the citizens in the Southern states that their laws were unjust towards any citizens of a race other then white in civil way.
King stated", an unjust law is no law at all", and "that a just law is a man made code that squares with the moral law or the law of God". King emphasis on unjust and just laws through out his argument. Often comparing how African Americans were treated unfairly, how the southern states were wrong for allowing this, and what actions should be taken to change the segregation laws. The argument has very strong evidence to back up the claim. The statement When you have seen hate-filled policeman curse, kick and even kill your black brothers and sisters; when you see the vast majority of you twenty million N ergo brothers smothering in a airtight cage of poverty in the midst of an affluent society; when you suddenly find your tongue twisted and your speech stammering as you seek to explain to your sis year old daughter why she cant go to the public amusement park that as just been advertised on television and see tears welling up in her eyes when she is told that Fun town is closed to colored children.
