Short Story The True Story Of Hamlet " Who's there?" said Bernardo the watchmen " it is I, Francisco here to relieve you". it sure is cold and creepy out tonight, where is Horatio he is late?" Gentlemen how are you tonight?" asked Horatio The guards replied at the same instant, "fine" "Good night and stay warm" said Francisco Shortly there after Marcellus arrives and they see a ghostlike figure in the distance and Bernardo is positive it was the late great king of Denmark. Horatio quickly agrees and Marcellus is persuaded by the others judgment that it indeed is the ghost of the king. "Everything is working out great". said Bernardo Horatio just glanced over to acknowledge that he understood but Marcellus was so scared at the time he didn't even notice. The Guards and Horatio go get Prince Hamlet, son of the late King Hamlet of Denmark and take him to the top of the castle to see for himself but the Prince was delusional and vulnerable. He came anyway and when the ghost appeared in the thick fog it almost seemed real to Horatio whom played a strong role of playing shocked and scared but he knew that it was not the old king, but Hamlet didn't know that and in his state of denial of the recent events in his life he is sucked into believing that it is true and his father has come back to help him. Marcellus and Horatio try and come up with a rational explanation but Marcellus could not think of one and leaves Horatio with knowledge that they believe.

Was it true? Did this really happen? The night before last Horatio was in the castle and walked passed King Claudius's chamber and overheard him confessing his sins to god and overheard the whole story on how and whom killed King Hamlet. The next morning King Claudius, Hamlets uncle celebrates his marriage to Gertrude Hamlets mother and Claudius proclaims that Hamlet will be king when he is ready to be king. Hamlet obsessed over his new findings and his depression becomes angry and looks upon Claudius with bad eyes since his whore mother whom married less then a month after his fathers death to his uncle keeps asking him to cast away these nightly colors that he is wearing and through all of this brings anxiety to Hamlet and he feels something's strange and that he should not be forgetting his father.

(Hamlet speaks to himself) O God! a beast that wants discourse of reason, Would have mourned longer, married with mine uncle, My father's brother; but no more like my father Than I to Hercules: within a month; Ere yet the salt of most unrighteous tears Had left the flushing in her galled eyes, She married O, most wicked speed, to post With such dexterity to incestuous sheets! As time passed the ghost returned and only to suggest foul play was involved in his murder but since the ghost is questionable to even be the spirit of Hamlets father it is strange that he is demanding revenge but when the ghost tells Hamlet how his death really occurred Hamlet got set off and without much thinking wanted revenge. Polonius the head of state gets in the way of the plans he insists that Hamlet is mad for Ophelia his daughter so the king spy's on the two of them to try and piece what is wrong with Hamlet together. That night at the play Hamlet asks his close friend Horatio to watch the king for any sign that he committed the murder and he got what he asked for as the play was cut short and the King demanded air. Hamlet stayed committed to revenge and knew that the ghost was real based on the events that have been occurring. Hamlet speaks with his mother that night and when his mother screams he hears a noise from behind the curtain, thinking it was the king Hamlet lounges forward and stabs through the drape murdering the rat, also reveled as Polonius.

The King sends Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, Hamlets childhood friends whom he would trust a snake over to take Hamlet to England on the trip the boat is attacked by pirates and Hamlet leaps aboard their ship and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern go on with their trip to England where Hamlet had them put to death by order of King Claudius, whom never gave that order Hamlet did. Hamlet returns to the castle to seek out final revenge, Ophelia has gone mad and Laertes her brother has sailed back from France to find out what has happened to his father and sister. Shakes here tells us that Ophelia fell out of a tree and drowned, but what was not told was the foul play involved, someone broke that branch and made sure Ophelia could not get out but who? Meanwhile King Claudius has connived Laertes into a duel with Hamlet that will wipe Hamlet of his life and once again poison will be used to assure that revenge will be in Laertes court.

Hamlet and Horatio are in the graveyard discussing the issues of revenge and crazy Hamlet never thought to ask Horatio if he would let him justify murder even if it is revenge and that's not at all thought about instead they plot and talk making Horatio the only one Hamlet can trust but is it that way? Hamlet tells Horatio how he overcame the King's death penalty towards him and a guard enters and asks if Hamlet is ready to duel with Laertes and he accepts. As they select their foils Laertes gets his sharp sword with poison on it and is ready to duel. What is not seen or told by anyone is that Horatio slides his way over to the king and gives him the poison that he drops in Hamlets goblet claiming to be a valuable gem Hamlet refuses to drink, but Gertrude wants a bond between her husband and son so she drinks the poison not knowing its true contents and Hamlet gets cut by the sword, the queen falls and Hamlet chases after Laertes with the poison sword and strikes Laertes and he admits he was poisoned by his own treachery realizing Hamlet only has minutes to live he stabs the king with the poison sword and then forces him to drink his own poison killing him twice if you must say so, once for his father the other for his mother. Hamlet forgives Laertes and Laertes dies. In Hamlets dying words he asks that Fortinbras be made king of Denmark Hamlet then dies and Fortinbras enters".

Well, Horatio?" Horatio replies, "I did as you ordered sir, King Hamlet is dead along with King Claudius and Gerturde was taken care of by her husband, Polonius, Ophelia, and Laertes were all murdered and your nemesis Prince Hamlet has been finally taken down by the poison you supplied, strange thing though his last orders were to contact you and ask that you sit on the throne of Denmark". He shall be buried like a soldier".
