The lyrical genius Kurt Donald Cobain, lead singer of the Grunge-Rock band Nirvana lived a life of denial, anger, depression, guilt and acceptance, or sometimes lack thereof. His pain was our pain, his love was our love, his rules were our rules, and his death was our death. He screamed out our angst. People felt his lyrics, his rhythm, and most of all, his heart. Ask anyone who has ever heard a Nirvana album and they will tell you a personal story on how Kurt's lyrics have changed their life. Kurt was real, he wasn't fake like all of the other rock stars.

"Im not like them, but I can pretend", sang Kurt Cobain in his song entitled "Dumb". He had a real family, real friends, and a real childhood, but most of all he had real pain and people could relate to that. Kurt Cobain was a heartfelt, deep yet literal singer / songwriter who reached out to every kid who thought their life wasn't perfect. He spoke about every issue, every fault, and every flaw in life's design. Kurt Cobain always knew what he was saying. He was down to earth, and he never initiated false hopes.

Kurt was different than everyone else. He was your typical good for nothing loser. No matter what the topic, big or small, Kurt stood up for what he believed in and he would never give up without putting up a fight. It was always others over himself, a quality most people can't say they have. He would go to the ends of the earth for a fan, or somebody he just met on the street. "I still can't get over the frustration, the guilt and the empathy I have for everyone.

There's good in all of us, and I simply think I love people too much, so much that It makes me feel too sad... I love and feel sorry for people too much", said Kurt Cobain in his suicide note. Kurt committed suicide with a shotgun on April 5, 1994, while his wife Courtney Love was on tour in England. She returned home two days later to see her husband dead in their greenhouse. In response to his death, Love said "if he loved everyone so much, why the hell didn't he just stick around?" He didn't stick around because he hated what he had turned out to be. He hated his fame, he hated his compassion, he hated being a rock star. he hated himself.

He just wanted to be a normal guy in a normal world and his fans respected that. The news of Kurt's death wasn't a last breath for Nirvana, it was a sigh of relief. Everyone knew that Kurt had finally gotten what he wanted. Cobain was born in, but a few years later moved to Aberdeen, a small town outside of Seattle, Washington. He spent the rest of his adolescent years there. Like any other kid growing up in a dying, dysfunctional town, he had a rock and roll heart, he relished his music, his friends, and his drugs.

Cobain lived life fast and hard, hard enough to leave a permanent scar on the face of music history forever. Although he is no longer here, his spirit lives on through his music, his song, and the beautiful life he left behind. Kurt Cobain will never be forgotten. The day he killed himself, the world fell apart. Our leader, the voice of our generation had killed himself because he couldn't take the pressure. According to him, it's better to burn out than to fade away.

However, his memory will never leave us. He lives on for all of eternity inside all the souls of the kids whom his music saved.
