Law firms in general usually have large budgets and can afford the latest and greatest in technology and technology training. Additionally, the working conditions are quite comfortable and relaxed. Although Information Service oriented careers are typically viewed as blue collar jobs, there are many perks within a successful firm that can make them sometimes seem otherwise. Law firms are in the business of billing and profiting from their clients need to pursue legal action. In corporate America, large businesses rely heavily on the counsel and advice from expert attorneys who work for these large firms.

As opposed to ordinary wood and sheetrock walls, dreary cloth chairs and furniture, the cubicles and offices within large law firms are often decorated with a touch of class and elegance.

Such an atmosphere can definitely make a trip into the office for an IS professional feel like a comfortable day at home. All law firms have many perks. They all contribute to a profit sharing ideology. As a firm becomes more and more successful with its profits the attorneys and staff are increasingly rewarded. Around the holidays and at the end of each business year it is not uncommon for an IS professional working in a large successful law firm to receive salary increases and bonuses.

Another perk is that of available legal services. Working for a law firm with the reach of many powerful attorneys can be a perk in itself. If for example an employee may require the assistance of an attorney or legal action and advice in strategizing a particular plan of action, what better place could such an employee seek counsel from? Expense paid traveling is yet another perk many firms offer.

For IS professionals duty often requires onsite troubleshooting. Most large law firms have international offices. If a need to repair technology arises outside of one of it's US offices it can present an opportunity to see other areas of the world; again another tremendous perk of working as an IS professional in the legal industry. As you can clearly see there many benefits to choosing a career path as an IS professional in the legal industry, many of which can lead to greater success and an overall higher level of achievement.

Having the opportunity to use and learn new technology as it becomes available to the world can sometimes only be afforded by the companies with the dollars to back it up. When an employee feels confident enough to call his or her workplace a second home it leaves the impression that it may not be such a bad place to be after all.
