Culture shock is the shock of the new and unfamiliar, and for international students almost everything can be new and unfamiliar. Life in new place with different educational system and language may cause culture shock... For example, the student may come from a country where the goal of education is to teach an agreed body of knowledge and students are expected to know a large number of facts by rote. They will therefore be unused to learning by discovery and critical thinking that is required in American educational system. They may feel threatened also by the degree of participation expected of them in class, preferring to remain silent and also ask questions like students who come from East Asia. Being praised in front of others causes some students embarrassment; others feel uncomfortable when asked to share opinions and beliefs, which are usual in American educational system.

Being not able to speak the language fluently or understand many new idioms, and by not know how to behave in an unfamiliar culture. Not only is the language different, but also gestures, facial expressions, and traditions are different. Newcomers can sometimes feel like children because they cannot understood these new things at once. That also caused stress as the difference of educational system for international student which lead to culture shock. As well as differences in life at home, international students faced many social differences that may cause stress. It is not surprising therefore that the dominant social culture of the school is American.

Many important social events in the American calendar, such as the sports banquets, graduation ceremonies and the Christmas prom. Clothing, sports, pop music and movies have a high status among American culture which may be strange especially those who not from western cultures. International Students who are troubled by fears of losing their identity may get stress which lead to culture shock. If students have arrived from their home country where their parents are taking care of them, they may find it difficult to come to terms with the completely independent in them selves. How they make decisions, how they spend their leisure time, how they resolve conflicts are very arduous for them in the first few months from their arrived. For example I faced many difficulties that I can't handle it well because I used to tell my parents about my problems and they told me, depend in their experience in the life, the best solution for the problem.

That made me stressful in the first time, as a result I felt culture shock and want to return back home as soon as possible. But now I can decide and resolve my problem alone.
