His talent as an author, an inventor of ideas was unmatched. Benjamin Franklin was known as many different types of personas but none as profound as his ability with a simple instrument such as a pen. His ideas were new and fresh, they helped to establish a sense of motivation for the colonies. In 1775 Franklin drafts the Articles of Confederation and in 1776 he signs the declaration of independence. At an early age, young Benjamin excelled in his studies and took likeliness to reading.
His formal schooling was limited being apart of such a large family, but he did well educating himself. From a child I was fond of reading, and all the little money that came into my hands was ever laid out in books (Franklin 35). He read numerous essays and scriptures from his father's library, it was the books he obtained on his own that truly changed his way of thinking. Benjamin Franklin held a strong disposition towards the way his family felt of his accomplishments, especially his father. Their relationship was strong but limited, he idolized his father the way most sons do but almost to an extreme. His father was the main influence in his early life and shaped him into a versatile craftsman.
It was his fathers shrewdness that helped Franklin make his transitions from England to the new world. When words collided about the future of the Americas, Franklin was one of the first to offer his services as ambassador. During that period of time the conditions involved in traveling were harsh and dangerous endeavor. Few people who crossed the Atlantic would ever take another trip back. Franklin enjoyed traveling and he grew very accustomed to the sea. I dislike d the trade and had a strong inclination for the sea; but my father declare d against it (Franklin, 33).
He had taken several diplomatic trips to London and France and always seemed to make his way back to Philadelphia in one piece. In my opinion I truly believe that the legend of Benjamin Franklin was that of a true American. I envy him, his accomplishment are that of a dozen men. His thoughts unique and concise and his upbringing strong. I would be lucky to experience a portion of what Ben Franklin has in his adept and ever changing life. He will stand among the legends of our founding fathers and name will be spoken for generations to come.
