Life Of The Baby And Pro Choice example essay topic
A back-street abortion is when a woman is made to put a frozen packet of peas on their stomach to numb it. And then with a sharp abject i.e. a knitting needle it would be implanted inside the women and used to break the side of the womb. Of course this proved problems as most women would get infections or have internal bleeding, lots of women died from this. This is why in 1967 abortion was legalized as for it is better to save one life (the mother) than to lose two (the mother and the baby).
The two sides, which have been argued, are of course pro-life vs. pro-choice. Pro-life means the people are totally for the life of the baby, and pro-choice means they are totally for the women's right to choose. Also these two sides are split into absolute and moderate e.g. absolute pro-life are definitely for the baby while moderate pro-life means that the baby has a right to life most of the time except in certain circumstances. Also moderate pro-choice means that women have the right to choose in most but not all cases, there are limitations. So this essay will show all four sides on why Christians oppose abortion. Paragraph 1: The first side of this essay is a person who takes an absolutist pro-life stance would argue that abortion is definitely wrong as killing a poor innocent baby which haven't done anything towards the mother.
These people say that life begins as soon as conception when the sperm and egg join together and grow to form an embryo. Meaning that these people believe that this embryo is human from the moment of conception so aborting it is murder. Also life is sacred and you shouldn't waste it. These aborted babies don't even get a chance; we don't get to choose whom we can kill. Life is all up to God and killing this embryo could mess up Gods plans as this baby could of grown up to be the next Albert Einstein. Life is God given.
The Bible supports these quotes for example. Life is God given- meaning that God created every human. Life should not be destroyed- meaning you should not murder, as life is precious. You are worth more than sparrows- meaning all life deserves respect. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them come to be -meaning God has a plan for every human life.
You are Gods temple and if anyone destroys that temple, God will destroy that person -meaning Human life is precious. Before I formed you in the womb I knew you- meaning God is the creator of life. This means that god is in charge, the quality of life. Other quotes are abortion has been considered murder since the first centuries of the church and nothing permits it otherwise. This means that abortion is always wrong in whatever circumstances because the foetus is human and to kill another human being is murder.
It has always been considered murder since the beginning of time and even Mother Teresa thought abortion was murder. 'Abortion is worse than killing a man in his own home. ' This means that you having an abortion are most definitely worse than you breaking into a person's house and deliberately killing that person. You have no sympathy and it is blue murder there are no other words for it. Paragraph 2: Some Christians do not argue so strongly against abortion even though they believe that life is God-given and special. These people belong to the group called moderate pro-life, because these people believe that the baby has a right to life most of the time except in certain circumstances.
These certain circumstances or situations are if the baby is deformed as it isn't fair on the baby as it wouldn't have a very good quality of life. As the quote says 'Jesus invites us in to live a full life. What kind of life awaits a severely brain-damaged foetus?' It wouldn't be fair for the baby the family or the mother. Also if the mother had been raped because every time the mother sees her baby she will be reminded of the rapist. She might then begin to neglect her baby and the baby wouldn't get the love from his mother, which he / she deserves.
Also another situation is incest because this could prove to be hard and it isn't fair for the baby to come in an unhappy family it could prove difficulties in the future. Another situation is if the mother's life is endangered because the baby would be bought up without his / her mother and if its only family were the mother then he / she would have to be put in a foster home. As the Church of England said in 1984 'the foetus is to be specially respected and protected. However, the life of the foetus is not sacrosanct if it endangers the mother. ' Paragraph 3: I believe that I am a moderate pro-choice believer and that women have the right to choose what happens to their body, but not in all circumstances.
This is because I believe that it isn't fair on the women who have either been raped, incest has endangered her life for the baby or if she was young to have the baby. She should have a choice. I understand the quotes, which I have been given for example: 'It is better to save one life than to lose two. ' I feel that this quote has a lot of meaning because it is telling us that it is better to save the mother than to lose the mother and the baby. It is not saying that the mother is better than the baby, but that it is a better to deal with this situation. I feel that the mother needs comforting and advise through these times and I don't believe that mothers should use abortion for conception for example: 'Abortion was the lesser of two evils.
' Meaning that it isn't fair on the mother to lose her life to have a baby brought into this world, which isn't even wanted. Paragraph 4: In this essay I have explained what an abortion is and discussed in detail two Christian points of view of an absolute and moderate pro-life and also about why they oppose abortion because they believe in the sanctity of life only God. However some Christians are relativist because they are communed quality of life for the mum and quality of life for the baby. I have also summed up my points of view. I have learnt that many people have different views on abortion and I have also learnt that all the views definitions and I have understood these as far as I can. I have tried to explain each view in detail and to the best of my abilities.
