Of all the characters that I've "met" through music and movies, one stands out as a person that I most want to emulate. He is Anthony Martini of the band E-Town Concrete. He appeals to me because he embodies what I strive to be. He is an influential person who has a direct effect on those around him and strived all his life to make something out of nothing. I, too, plan to work hard for what I want in life and that I accomplish whatever my goals may be after graduating from college, and that effect is something I must give in order to be satisfied with my life.

Anthony is a strong person in a gut-wrenching story. He symbolize truth, workmanship, and wisdom in what he does. The young man from the inner city streets of Elizabeth, NJ, a truly powerful young man sculpted by his urban environment. His lyrics merges raw talent with pure, honest emotion - elements that seem to be lacking in much of today's music.

I think the reason why they have gained so much popularity so quickly, is because their message is real, nowadays kids are more screwed up than ever, so when he sings about his experiences and things that he has been through, we can relate". Whether it's the story of a friend who was shot and killed in "4 the Fame" or the cutthroat approach to success in the short but powerful "One Life to Live", E-town Concrete's music addresses the issues that face (or fascinate) young people now When the story of my life is written I want to symbolize those things. The base has been formed for me to live a productive, helpful life. As a singer of a band and a fighter to speak the truth of the harsh realities that the world lives in today, I represent those things that Mr. Martini represents. In the child / adolescent world I am him, but soon I'll be entering the adult world, a world in which I'm not yet prepared to lead. I'm quite sure that as a teenager Anthony Martini often wondered what he could do to help his family, his friends and above all himself to raise up, as a phoenix from the ashes, out of his harsh ghetto reality.

He probably emulated someone who he had seen live a successful life. He saw someone like the kid next door selling drugs on the street corner getting all the girls, the cars, the money. But he never let himself succumb to that life instead he and his fellow fighters in E-Town fought their way out of their surroundings and succeeded. Through him and others in my family I feel I have acquired the values and the burning desire to get myself out my surroundings and strive for something more that will form the foundation for a great life. I also feel that that foundation is not enough. I do not yet have the sophistication, knowledge, and wisdom necessary to succeed as I want to in the adult world.

I feel that (College), above all others, can guide me toward the life of greatness that will make me the Anthony Martini of my generation.
