Logan And Jack example essay topic

420 words
At 8: 45 p.m. on April 21, the Space shuttle "Liberty" launched in secret from an airbase. Inside the spacecraft contained a nuclear bomb, intended to protect the world from asteroids. Along with it came a crew of four: a biologist, an engineer, a computer technician, and a caged military dog named Buddy. This is their story about a near cataclysmic disaster. Their departure was un ordinary, a dark cloudless sky with a cool breeze sweeping through the surrounding desert. Jack, the biologist, was nervous, as this was the first flight to be totally computer piloted.

To Jack's left was Mike, who was calm, having total faith in the system that would pilot the ship, the system he developed. Mike and Jack were gazing out the window as Logan, the engineer, was in his seat facing the main computer, approving the final check before their launch. Suddenly, all of them jolted back, their skulls being sucked into their seat. A flash of blinding light engulfed them, and their ears deafened. 10: 53 p.m. Suddenly, the ship jerked to a stop as the shuttle docked with the space station.

The side panel quickly slid into the wall to reveal the entrance to the space station. Abruptly, an alarmed sounded, and the door whooshed closed. Computer screens flashed "unidentifiable airborne contaminant", as they shut down. Mike shrieked "What-what is going on?" At that moment, he began to choke on his words as blood spewed from his mouth.

Logan and Jack raced towards the emergency air tanks, holding their breath until they each placed a mask over their mouth. Buddy seemed unaffected. Logan grabbed his chest and fell to the floor, followed by Jack. Buddy was the only one alive now.

The nuclear bomb was on the cargo bay floor powerless. Some how an acid got in it and ate away at the circuit board, which brought the bomb to life. A hum began as its lights flashed and the screen flashed 3: 00, then 2: 59. Mission control radioed the ship, instructing Buddy to go to the cargo bay. Once she got there, they commanded her to press the red button. Only two minutes left, she hurdled up onto the bomb, and stared dumbfounded at it, then she pressed the button with her snout.

It was all over, proving the dog is truly man's best friend..
