Look For A Way example essay topic
Being a strong and determined person I chose to encounter the arising problems and face things I wish to change. I decided that if faced with a barrier in my way, I would always look for a way to get around it or to overcome it. I promised myself to look for and find solutions, and not seek excuses. I have always stuck to my principle of being sturdy and not being afraid of the fresh gale, as well as being able to confront it alone.
The truth is that I even used to look down on those weaker-minded people who did not manage to meet their privations with dignity. Now, having gone through major distress, I revalued my prior ideas about problem solving. I can say that today I am a different person and understand that a world of problem-solving cannot be divided into us and them - winners and losers. From young years I got used to being independent and even living alone, so when the time came to move out for college I was neither frightened nor stunned. However, I knew that studying at a new place in a completely strange country would be challenging indeed. What made the adjustment for me even more difficult is that the business college I entered was international.
Not only did I have to adjust to the new culture in a country then strange to me, but also to the culture of every peer of mine from each individual country. When the time came for me and my project group to go to a monthly competition of business schools, I was not nervous. I was in charge of the project and knew my group was prepared for the competition. However, when we arrived there we all realized that there was no chance for us to win. The problem was that our opponents were much older and experienced as well as it was their fourth or fifth competition of this type, while for us it was a debut.
Naturally, we got nothing for our pains and returned back feeling down and humble. Nobody was blaming us, because it was rather innate that a team of freshmen did not perform equally to others with much more experience. However, I, as a project coordinator, and a born leader, found it was inadmissible from my own eyes. I lost faith in myself, I avoided my friends, stopped studying with the zeal I use to have, and the work that I always enjoyed, became a burden for me.
I found this state was atypical for me because I was never depression inclined and always managed to not give way to despair. Though in this situation everything was different, all my values and my beliefs in the world and in me were turned upside down..
