1.) Female Modesty is defined as a woman's respect for a 'power within' that makes it virtually impossible for men to coming le with women, treating them as sex objects. This Power replaces having to wear elaborate jewelry or seductive clothing. It is something in side that men find, only when they have shown to the woman that they are worthy of being revealed of her true self. According to Shalit, female modesty is very powerful and has the ability of greatly influencing our society when she gives the example of the temperance movement slogan, 'Lips that touch liquor shall never touch mine. ' Modesty gave women the choice of giving in to her sexuality or not- therefore making men dutiful and willing to change their ways to become worthy enough to women. Male honor is the response to this idea of female modesty.

It is a respect for female modesty. It is knowing that he can so something, but he shouldn't. A man who shows this quality understands that the point of intimacy is to have both partners be ready and willing, not a matter of getting the woman to do something because the man wants to do it. 2.) Obviously, male honor and female modesty are linked in an 'ecology of the sexes. ' As long as female's remain modest, treating a woman well would be the only way to go. If a man acts with honor, then he had the fair chance of finding a woman, other wise, there was no way!

When this 'ecology' is disturbed, consequences arouse. If woman start to give off the vibe that men do not have to be honorable in order to have a relationship with them, then men will start to rid of this obligation. The rest of woman that want a real relationship based on love, rather than sex, will be left out in the cold. It is men's behavior that women complain of now that is only the response to women's lack of modesty.

I am all for a return to female modesty, but not at the expense of the power and individuality that woman have gained since the Sexual Revolution. Before, woman had to reflect the image of the household, remaining together, even in their uncomfortable outfits that were so controlling of their natural movements. This turn gave women the freedom of being who they want to be and not being afraid. Honestly, I think a woman who shows her strong side, and does not let a man take her on a whim and control her will have men begging for her respect. I have seen it in real life, and over and over again, the girl who gives in early on gains little respect for the guy, who longs for the woman who makes him wait.
