Maur its Cornelis Escher, also know as M.C. was born on June the seventeenth of 1898. He was born and raised in the Netherlands. This meaning that he was Dutch. His parent's names were Arnold and Sarah Escher.

Eshcer's family always tried to Make him study to be a carpenter, but that wasn't for him. He was an artist at heart and that's all he could and would be. His parents finally acknowledged his artistic skills and gave him their blessings. He was a student at the School for Architecture and decorative Arts. While going to school he realized that he really had a passion for graphic designing. While at school he managed to master graphic design and woodcutting design.

Two things that interested him immensely. After school he started to travel. Some of his favorite places were Spain, Southern France and Italy. Especially the Alhambra in Granada! He visited there on several occasions.

At all of these places he found different and unique inspirations that helped inspire him to make some of his most loved works of art. Even though he was so great at what he did he never really considered himself and artist or a scientist, just a regular man. I'm March 1923; Escher was still traveling in Italy when a Swiss family allowed him to live with them. Soon Escher fell in love with the daughter of the family, Jetta Umi ker. They were married and remained to live in Italy. Later they found themselves restless and then moved into a home in Rome.

Not long after they had moved M.C.'s brother was killed in a very tragic accident. This was obviously a harsh blow for him. He stayed strong and with the help from Jetta and his new baby boy George Escher he pulled through. M.C. Eshcer was a highly emotional man. He once had a Jewish teacher and he was very fond of him.

He was greatly disturbed during the reign of Hitler. He kept an imprint of a German boot and made a peice of art in memory of his teacher who was taken by the Nazi. M.C. died in March in the year 1972. He lived a long and full life. He worked practically until the day that he passed away.

One of his most well knows pieces are Reptiles. This is a picture of a group of tiny crocodiles that are crawling out of a tessellation. It has now be discovered that many of his pieces had mathematical backgrounds in them. We now call them tessellations! I have made an amateur one of these before and me can truly say that they are beautiful and unique! Tessellations are basically just repeated patterns that go on and on.

Escher was a very busy man and was poor of health for a very long time before his death. He made many continuations not only to the artistic world but also to the mathematical world! I really enjoyed writing this paper. I think M.C. Escher was a very strong and determined man who knew what he wanted in life and went for it. he didn't settle for second best he did what was right in his heart.
