Hamlet is deeply depressed in the second act where we first see him, he is in a melancholic mood. The fact that his uncle, claudius has married his mother is by no mean acceptable to him, especially since it is just a month after his fathers death. "a little more than kin and less than kind", is the first line he speaks, meaning his now father is more than a mere kinsman and yet not close to him as they are now family. "I am too much in the sun", another pun he uses suggests he is offended at being called claudius's on and feels he is too much in his uncles favour. He compares claudius to his father, saying claudius in like a satyr in comparison to his father whom he describes as hyperion, the beautiful god of the son.
He believes they are total opposites and hates the fact the his mother could marry claudius for this reason, among others. In hamlets first soli quy which i believe is very in portant, we learn alot about him, in this he questions suicide, yet his religious beliefs do not allow him to go through with his "or that the everlasting had not fixed his canon 'gains self slaughter" suggests this to me, this line also shows he is educated and humorous as it contains a pun on canon.
