A new interim government was organized and 25 Iraqi appointees became its members, headed by Prime Minister I yad Allawi. In January 2005 the interim government carried out democratic elections of National Assembly members. The elections were supported by 58% of potential voters, and now the Assembly starts its activity, despite of continuing hard bombing attacks and numerous deaths of Iraqi people. This is a short outline of the events of military intervention of the US and the Allied forces in Iraq. This war caused a giant wave of resonance all around the world, and many people expressed their opinions, favoring or opposing this military campaign.
In order to from, present and analyze all the pro-war arguments properly, it is important also to pay attention and examine the views of opponents of military operation of the USA in Iraq. There are a number of popular public points of view regarding the negative political and social particularities, which accompany the war, and in this work they will be considered together with the ideas, supporting American policy. First and the most important reason of criticizing military activity in Iraq is deva stative effect of the war. Statistic researches estimate that since the beginning of military occupation of Iraq about 20,000 local residents have been killed, and the majority of those are women, children and innocent civilians. Besides, during the war dozens of troops of armed forces from America and the Allied countries were destroyed, hundreds of soldiers were injured, and many returned home with incurable physical and psychological traumas.
Of course, this argument is very strong, it has undoubted common sense and it is very hard to be opposed. Nevertheless, it is worth to mention that military activity from the side of American government was initiated in reply on numerous terrorist attacks, organized and carried out by Iraqi terrorist groups, and thousands of victims in the United States, which took place after 9/11 and series of other devastating attacks. The government of Iraq and especially its former dictator Saddam Hussein had strong connections with different terrorist organizations, like Al Qaeda or Hamas. Saddam used to supply these groups with weapons and invest good money into promoting of suicide bombers activity, in particular, directed against Palestine. He was linked to a failed attempt of assassination of former American President George Bush in Kuwait.
Several times he approved testing chemical and biological weapons on captured foreign prisoners and Iraqi dissidents. Hussein was always very aggressive and antagonistic in his speeches, addresses and declarations; he used to follow destructive policy against citizens of his own country. That is why it is obvious that such a person was a potential threat of using modern terrorist weapons against any country or community in the world.
