Ain't Misbehavin' Musical by "Fats" Waller The general admission for the musical was $51.00 plus tax; however, it was college night so the admission was $10.00 plus tax for college students. There was an estimate of two hundred and fifty people who attended Ain't Misbehavin. The performance ran for two hours with one fifteen-minute intermission. Lastly, the starting date was on March 21, 2003, and the ending date is May 25, 2003 for the musical.

Ain't Misbehavin' was conceived and originally directed by Richard Maltby Jr. But, the musical is from an idea by Murry Horwitz. For Richard Maltby, he has directed many Tony award winning Broadway musicals, like "Baby", "Starting Now", and "Fosse". Moreover, Murry Horwitz wrote songs for "The Great Gatsby", and "Harlem Nocturne". Currently, Mr. Horwitz is the director of the new AFI Silver Theatre in Maryland, while Maltby is married with five children. Ain't Misbehavin' is being sponsored by Exxon Mobil and Siemens companies.

Also, the musical gets their special arrangements of material from the Music Theatre International in New York. Ain't Misbehavin' is produced in association with Center Stage. Many people took part in making the musical, Ain't Misbehavin' possible, and a great success. For instance, Irene Lewis was the managing director.

The choreographer was Arthur Faria, and the orchestration was by Luther Henderson. The vocal concepts and arrangements were by Jeffrey Gutcheon, and William Elliot. The musicians were Williams Foster McDaniel who played the piano, Thomas Williams, the woodwinds, Dont ae Winslow, the trumpet, Thomas E. Short, the bass, Eric Kennedy, the drums, and Edward Goldstein, the orchestra contractor. The musicians were dressed in black suits for the first half of the show, and then they changed into white suits for the rest of the performance. The technical, sound, and lighting directors were Jim Glen dinning, Karlin Gray bash, and Betsy Adams. Lastly, the costume designer, and stage manager were Paul Tazewell, and Barbara Rollins.

Finally, the cast members were E. Faye Butler, Doug E skew, Jane ece Freeman, Amy Phillips, and Run Ruffin. The theme for Ain't Misbehavin' was to portray a live radio broadcast in Harlem, New York nightclub. The year was in 1943. Around that time it was important, because it was the spotlight for African Americans to show their musical experiences and talents. Fat Waller did not write all the songs in Ain't Misbehavin, but he recorded many of them. Overall, the cast sung over thirty songs.

To name a few songs in Act I was "Ain't Mis havin" by Thomas Waller, "The Jitterbug Waltz" by Richard Maltby Jr., "Yacht Club Swing" by Thomas Waller, and "The Joint is Jumpin" by Andy Raza f and J.C. Johnson. In Act II, the cast sung hits like "The Viper's Drag", which is the reefer song, "That Ain't Right" by Nat King Cole, and of course "Black and Blue" by Thomas Waller and Harry Brooks. These selections of songs were my favorite, because the cast did a call and response style with the audience. The cast would say a line, and then they would ask the audience to repeat the same line. Overall, the cast did a great job in interacting with the audience.

They made the audience have a great time by providing comedy throughout the performance.
