Mockingbird To Scout example essay topic

1.) As the book continues you can see the maturity level of Jem, Scout, and Dill rise. They mature just like other boys and girls do, but the trial of Tom Robinson helped all three of the kids to learn a little more about life. The most important thing that the children learned was that, in life everyone is not treated fair. Their father Atticus showed them that it takes courage and self pride not only to live other but also to live with yourself.

They also learn about the injustice and justice throughout the Tom Robinson trial. Finally the children learn about prejudice and the effect that it has on everyone else in the world. B.) I believe that people learn much more from life experiences, rather than from what school teaches them. School teaches you things that society wants you to know, instead of the stuff you should now to get by in life. School of course helps people in the long run, by preparing them for a career, but if you do not have what is called 'Street Smarts'; , than there is no use for 'Book Smarts. ' ; For example, If the smartest person in the world walked down a dark alley, and was robbed, then he is considered just as less educated as the next man is. 2.) Considering human relationships from the past, I believe that we as individuals pay for the past years of intolerance and bigotry much more than our country.

Of course we are more advanced as a society but only a little compared to the advancement of technology. There are still people who hate for no reason or very little reasons. Many of those people like to tie in the past years of ignorance and set the blame on others, when it is actually their fault. This hurts the country, and makes other country's look down on us.

It also puts many people in bad situations, which not only makes people pay for the country's past mistakes, but it brings senseless crime. 3.) Ironically the missionary society is concerned for the blacks in Africa, but they are careless for the blacks that live in the area in which the stay in. Even though they concerned with the people in Africa, the E wells share the same lifestyle as the people in Africa, and are being criticized by the missionary society. 1 B.) Miss gates says that she is all for the system of democracy yet she worries's about the blacks trying to get 'above themselves.

' ; She fears that this will start interracial relationships. Her formal pronouncement clash with her private beliefs. B.) The societies of the world today say that they want what's best for whomever, but most of the time it is used as a publicity stunt. Something to amuse the public when actually they really do not care about what is going on with others. In their world they are the only people who matter. 4.) The title 'To Kill A Mockingbird'; is confusing unless you understand the little hints in the book that lead you to believe that people are symbolized as Mockingbirds. In the story the main character who was symbolized as a Mockingbird was Tom Robinson.

As the book quotes Mockingbirds 'Don't do one thing but make music... to enjoy. ' ; (94) Tom Robinson did not sing in this story but in place he worked for May ella for no price. In return he was punished and killed for no reason, as if a Mockingbird was killed by a little boy who threw Stones at it because it wouldn't stop singing. That boy doesn't get in trouble because it was just another bird in the eyes of everyone else. Arthur 'Boo'; Radley was considered a Mockingbird in this story also. Arthur never hurt anyone (until the end) or didn't want to hurt anyone, but the three children were portraying him as a very evil man.

While Arthur only set in his house, locking his self out from the outside world, his life was being acted out without his knowledge. This mockingbird does not suffer the same fate as the other. He does not die; instead he sings his song by protecting Jem and Scout, when Bob Ewell was attacking them. This gives him his title as a Mockingbird. B.) Today, a Mockingbird is hard to come by. No one wants to sing, at least not without a contract. If one person were to be a mockingbird in this world it would have to be the Pope.

He is the only person that is living that is trust worthy. Yet people would like to see him assassinated, probably just for bragging rights. 5.) The first person that Scout and her siblings got to know better as the story progress was Calpurnia. Scout thought that Calpurnia was put on the earth to tournament her. Later on she understand that the only thing Cal wanted to do is to raise scout right, and make sure that she is brought up understanding the way people work. The next person would be Boo Radley.

He was misunderstood through the whole story. Towards the end Scout knew that he was a mockingbird. He was the only mockingbird to scout. After the incident with Jem and herself, she took another look at boo Radley taking her fathers advice.

'You never really know a man until you stand in his shoes and walk around in them. ' ; (282). The last person that the children took a new look at would be their Aunt Alexandre a. Even though Scout did not like her when she first moved in, she saw a new side of her when Atticus got hurt. Scout and Jem both never seen their Aunt show emotions until this moment. B.) The Boo Radley T-shirts.

The only shirts you will find that would fit snug on you like ghost sheets. 6.) Four of the character that I would like to invite to a dinner party would be First of all Dill. Dill seems like he would be great at the story telling end of the table. Next would be Boo Radley. I would invite him just because he is quiet, and he wont know anyone at the party really. I would try to loosen him up and get him to bring lots of food.

Next on my list would be Mrs. Dubose. Of course she would have to bring some of her pies. I would also invite Jem, Just because he seems like he would be the one who could get everyone at the party to play the games. The last person on my list would be of course Calpurnia. She can cook, clean and hold a good conversation; I would make sure she would come.

7.) The most important theme in TEAM would be the Mockingbird theme. If you read the book without thinking about it you would never understand the meaning of the title. To understand the symbolization of the mockingbird puts the story in place with the title. Once you understand this it puts a smile on your face and you no longer look for Jem or Scout to kill actually kill some bird for fun and get in trouble for it. 8.) In this novel my favorite character had to be Jem. I enjoyed Jem because he was the oldest of the three children and took a lot of responsibility throughout the story.

Jem character reminds me of 'Me'; . He has a little sister who he likes to play with while he was younger. As Jem grew older, his desire to play those games began to fade. 'It's about time you started acting like a girl scout. ' ; .
