Television is more of an activity you do when you are bored or so tired that you are watching it to help you go to sleep. Television is far to biased, with not enough opinions for people to really get anything out of it, ie: many of the standard television stations are owned by liberals and governmental groups. It is important for everyone to be able to make their own opinions without having a sway in either direction. Television does have some benefits.
The fact that you can take tele courses and also have a vari tey of channels such as the learning channel, history channel, animal planet, are all assets. There are things to be learned from television, but you have to search for these channels and educational shows. Reading has a wider variety of genres, and an easier way to get books that excite and interest you. Books come in so many different subjects it is almost impossible for you not to find something to read.

Reading and watching television both are beneficial, but reading far outweighs television anyway you slice it. Reading can help you in any situation whether you are happy, sad, upset or confused. Books can allow you time for yourself, or you can join a book group to meet with others to discuss what you " ve read. Television can help, bust there are far more determining factors on why reading is much more valuable.
