Most Common Iq Test example essay topic
If these experiments were not allowed, we may still be trying to find a cure for the common cold. Many people don't realize that when they go to the doctor and are prescribed a medication that it was more or less tested on an animal, a human and who knows what else. These are the life saving cures that we all may need someday. Hopefully they will find a cure for cancer, aids, and male pattern baldness but until they do I hope that they are using an animal instead of a human. Why are Americans so interested in IQ's (Intelligence Quotient), and what do they prove?
Intelligence is defined by Websters dictionary "INTELLIGENCE, term usually referring to a general mental capability to reason, solve problems and think'. Intelligence aids people in accomplishing everyday tasks. If a person had zero intelligence they would wander about aimlessly, not having a care in the world. Many people have developed several ways of measuring intelligence. German psychologist William Stern first suggested the IQ test quotient in 1912. To compute IQ, Stern divided mental age by the actual, chronological age of the person taking the test and then multiplied by 100 to get rid of the decimal point.
For example, if a 6-year-old girl scored a mental age of 9, she would be assigned an IQ of 150 (9/6? 100). If a 12-year-old boy scored a mental age of 6, he would be given an IQ of 50 (6/12? 100).
The IQ score, as originally computed, expressed a person's mental age relative to his or her chronological age. This is the most common IQ test given. How a curate is this test? Is determined by who is taking believes in this system. Modern intelligence tests– including the current Stanford-Binet test no longer compute scores using the IQ formula. Instead, intelligence tests give a score that reflects how far the person's performance deviates from the average performance of others who are the same age.
The thought of being the smartest person in the world intruiges many scientists. These two tests are just 2 of the many theory's people use to test intelligence. In my opinion Americans are interested in these tests are to evaluate how smart their children will be, and to determine if there is a raise in IQ scores to determine the faith of the nation. Differences in Personalities I feel that my personality is different from other people because my parents were very strict when we were growing up. I have lived in New York, Florida, California and presently in Texas. I have seen a great diversity of people and their personalities.
While most personalities that I have come across are very different from my own, I have to say that everyone has their own unique personality. They may seem to act differently but usually they are imitating something that they have seen or someone who affected their lives when they were younger and left an impression on them. Personalities in my opinion change over time. Many things affect ones own personality. Those factors may have come from a bad experience or a good experience. I feel that personalities are a defensive mechanism that we use to adapt to good or bad stimulus.
If you have a supervisor that you believe that does not like you, you are going to change your personality to adapt to help you cope with that individual. It is the same with a good stimulus, if that stimulus makes you feel good, and confident your personality will adapt to those situation. Everyone is affected differently by certain situations this is what helps us build and rebuild our personalities. That is why I believe that my personality is different from others.
