Most Political News Story example essay topic
The channel tried to stand by the facts but the story did seem to state that it was the Democrats that voted against closing the debate. The story did seem slanted when discussing the issue over the Democrats wanting to obtain access to information about Bolton and Syria. The channel stated that the was good and bipartisanship until the Democrats resorted back to a partisan approach. This seemed slanted because throughout the debate both the Republicans and Democrats have been resorting to a partisan approach. Despite the slight slant ness in some of the story the primary contents of the story did stick to the facts and remained bias. Democrats Mull Politicizing Iraq War Intelligence this article found on the Fox News Channel in November of 2003 is an insider story.
The following story discusses a informal memo was found concerning the planning and timing of a possible investigation into pre- war Iraq Intelligence. The memo suggested that Democrats 'prepare to launch an investigation when it becomes clear we have exhausted the opportunity to usefully collaborate with the [Senate] majority". Then the story goes on further to discuss how upset the Senates Republicans were by the leak but especially by the memo itself. A republican Senator went as far as saying that the "Democrats intended to politicize what should have been bipartisan".
Such comments seemed to elude that the Democrats were at fault for thinking of conducting investigation but that was not the matter at hand. The matter was the leak of a memo was a draft that had not even been approved. Lawmaker Hopes to Open Churches to Political Speech this headline on Fox News refers to a bill that Representative Walter Jones of North Carolina has introduced the Houses of Worship Free Speech Restoration Act of 2005 that would allow churches and religious organization to engage in religious free exercise and speech activities. This story seems much more slanted to the conservative side that emphasizes religion and freedom.
The leaders of special interests group such as Religious Freedom Coalition argued that freedom of speech should also pertain to the freedom to speak about politics in the church. The story emphasizes that the lawmaker and special interests group are using freedom as their means to get the bill passed. These three stories though they all displayed a somewhat bias point of view, they all seemed to be slanted in some form whether it was through partisanship or ideology. Most headline new stories such as the routine and feature story are provided to the new channels like Fox News and CNN by the Associated Press. Thus many of the headlines stories are reported the way the are received by the AP. So, the most significant reason why stories are slanted many times it is because of the views of the owners or elites that control the companies like the AP.
Fox News is said to be balanced and fair but yet their conservative view are often depicted in their stories. When news channels are discussing a Republican Senators bill or other issues the slant is towards conservatives and when it a democratic view it tends to be slanted towards liberalism.
