Drama Response Paper The play "Trifles" by Susan Glaspell is type of murder mystery that takes place in the early 1900's. The play begins when the sheriff Mr. Peters and county attorney Mr. Henderson come to attempt to piece together what had happen on the day that Mr. Wright was murder. While investigating the seen of the murder, they are accompanied by the Mr. Hale, Mrs. Hale and Mr. Peters. Mr. Hale had told that Mrs. Wright was acting strange when he found her in the kitchen. After taking information from Mr. Hale, the men leave the women in the kitchen and go upstairs at seen of the murder. The men don't realize the plot of the murder took place in the kitchen.

The action begins when the men leave the women in the kitchen alone. This where Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters find out themselves find out who had kill Mr. Wright. For some unknown reason the women were acting like they were profession detectives, they were asking question and making conclusion. They were discussing the way the kitchen was left are the murder.

For example, when Mrs. Peters was looking through the cupboard, she finds out that Mrs. Wright had bread set. Mrs. Hale concludes that Mrs. Wright was going to put the loaf of bread beside the breadbox. Another example is when Mrs. Peter notices that Mrs. Wright had been making a quit. They were asking question if Mrs. Wright making quilt or making a knot, like a professional detective. The men come back in the kitchen and overhear the women. Mr. Peter repeats what the women were talking about and the men started laughing and making fun of the women.

This situation is very interesting because the men have no idea that the women were actually making a valuable conclusion. While the men were looking to find evidence, the rising action continues when the women find series of small discoveries. For example they see the sewing pattern that she stitched, they conclude that while sewing Mrs. Wright was nervous. Another discovery they make is broken door on the birdcage, they had no idea that they found key part of plot.

Later on they find a dead bird in the sewing basket, which had its neck broken. Finding the dead bird had answer they " re previous question. Seconds after finding the dead bird they had completely understanding of what had happened and all the questions they asked earlier were now answered. Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters were terrified and were in state of shock about the truth they had discovered. The men were still looking for evidence, but women are replaying the scene of murder in there minds.

They conclude that Mrs. Wright was sewing in kitchen, when Mr. Wright came into the kitchen and saw the bird. This explains why Mrs. Wright was sewing nervously. I assumed that Mr. Wright didn't like birds, because they are very noisy referring to conversation with Mr. Hale about the joining party phone line. Mr. Wright must have seen the birdcage with the bird. He must have broken the birdcage and broke the bird's neck. This was enough of a motive need for Mrs. Wright to kill her husband.

The men were coming back to the kitchen, Mrs. Peters hid the bird in the sewing basket. Mr. Peters and Mr. Henderson couldn't find the motive behind murder, the only way they would find out is if the women told them. In conclusion, the play "Trifles" by Susan Glaspell is murder mystery that the profession in the play cannot find a motive behind the murder of Mr. Wright. They were searching everywhere but not at the scene of where plot came together in kitchen. While waiting for the men to solve the murder, Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters piece together the motives that cause Mrs. Wright murder of Mr. Wright.
