The main idea is Learning. Learning can be broken down into three areas of study: 1. Cognitive, 2. Affective, 3. Psychomotor. In Physical education and sport professional is concerned with facilitating learning in all three areas.

Cognitive Learning is concerned with developing and increasing the individual~{! /~}s knowledge, improving problem-solving abilities and developing. This is very important because if the student doesn~{! /~}t know anything about the game then he or she will never fully develop the knowledge to play the game. With cognitive learning the time-spent teaching for development depends on factors such as the information, and the abilities of the individuals to understand the material. In teaching Affective Learning the teacher is concerned with attitudes, appreciations, and values. The goal of teaching is to develop proper and positive attitudes towards physical education and physical activity, and to prompt life long activity. The teacher is also concerned about instilling such qualities as sportsmanship, leadership, and teamwork.

Psychomotor Learning the primary focus is on the acquisition of motor skills. This includes both fundamental motor skill as well as selective skills in various physical education activities geared to the age, maturation level, and physical condition of each individual. The teacher is concerned with the development and improvement of motor skill. This chapter goes on with motor development and Motor learning. Motor development is the study of the origins of and changes in movement behavior throughout the lifespan. Motor development is studied from infancy to old age.

Motor learning is the study of acquisition of moment skills as a consequence of practice. The chapter goes on and has the Motor Learning Concepts at the end. They are ten concepts that must be considered in ones learning experiences. When planning for motor learning, the teacher must consider a learners level of readiness, development, individual characteristics, motivation, and need for reinforcement.
