Movie To The Notes example essay topic

The Crucible After comparing the movie to the notes we took in class I found many similarities and differences. I found that in the movie there were several parts added and taken away to add more drama. Most of the characters that were different was a man by the name John Alden "the tall man from Boston" was mentioned in the notes but did not appear in the movie. Probably because he had no since in the movie because he was a loaner. Another character that was present in the notes but not in the movie was Dorcas Good, Sarah Good's daughter, who testified against her own mother in court. I was surprised at this I think that if you are going to testify against your own mother that is a pretty big deal.

A big difference was the notes say that Betty Parris accused Tituba; however, in the movie it was, Abby, Reverend Parris's niece that accused Tituba. Also it was never mentioned in the movie that Tituba had a black male companion name John. This was also not common back in those times black were considered to be nasty and not well behaved. Inthe movie the court was held by only three judges and they were rather experienced. The movie never told of how the girls also accused the governor's wife of being a witch, but in the movie Abby did tell the head judge that he could be taken accused. The notes say that the only afflicted girl that showed any remorse was Ann Putnam; however, the movie states that it was Mary Warren that showed any remorse.

One of the biggest differences in the movie compared to the notes. Was the fact that Abby and John Procter had and affair. These are some of the similarities and differences between the movie and the notes. This might not have been all of them but I wanted to keep it pretty plain and simple.
