Since there are an extreme amount of music artists; numerous teenagers are engaging in making music their lifestyle. Music's impact on teenagers change their perceptions on life in many different ways: it shapes who they are by their choice of style and appearance, their internal feelings about themselves and how they behave socially towards people. Music is essentially a physical, emotional, and social contribution in the life of teenagers aging from 13-18. Teenagers spend on average at least 4-5 hours listening to music or watching music videos.

This average has gone up drastically (almost 45%) in the past decade. To adolescents it is a way for them to escape from their everyday life and endure in their own thoughts which are excepted amongst those who listen to the same genre of music. To teenagers ranging from 13-18, their life consists of one continuous playing soundtrack whether it is from rap to reggae or classical to punk. Music artists have a great influence on one's identity physically. Despite the age these young adults admire the personalities and style of their favorite and most listened artists. This defines how they dress and present themselves to others.

The "stereo-typical" teenager more than fifty percent of the time is based on how they dress. Their style of dress can be related to or even imitate their role- model which in many cases is their favorite musician's style. Teenagers become absorbed in music to identify themselves as older.
